Hi dpwg1966,
CIS returns cannot be submitted to HMRC through QuickBooks, you will need to manually enter the details from the return onto their website :)
Thanks
Have they still not set up submission yet? It's Jan 2020. Why did it ask for my submission Gateway when setting up if it's not able to submit?

All it does is creates a return Then when you click submit to HMRC you get taken to the Government Gateway Portal and you fill it in via the keyboard as you would normally do. The only advantage is that you have a prefilled return you can copy. It doesn't submit automatically as it should. Maybe Government doesn't allow this feature or Quickbooks hasn't produced it.
Quickbooks should also supply you with a printable CIS monthly statement you could send to your contractors. That would also be a useful feature.

Thank you for joining the thread, @MattGil.
Our developers are currently monitoring the service and will be enabling the option of filing the CIS return directly to HMRC for small groups of companies at a time. Since you don't have the option yet, you can pay them by manually adding the details onto the HMRC website as mentioned by Georgia above.
