You're in the right place, @conway_electrica. I'm here to share some information regarding Employer Payment Summary (EPS).

The EPS report is cumulative. This means it will contain data for all periods in the current tax year to date on the most recent submission.

If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced Payroll, if you delete EPS, it will be generated for the following period. This includes the data from the deleted period. You can only submit it between the 6th and 19th of the month. If you miss the submission window, you will be able to submit the EPS in the following month. For more info, check out this article: Submit Employer Payment Summary (EPS) in QBO Advanced Payroll.

Otherwise, under QBO Standard Payroll, if you delete EPS submission, it will not regenerate. To restore it, you'll need to roll back the pay run to the start of the tax year by chronologically deleting each payroll. Before doing the process, consider reading through this link: Things to know before you delete a pay run.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
  2. In Payroll, select Employer NI relief.
  3. Change employment allowance to 'No, I don't qualify' and Save.
  4. Go back to Payroll settings and change employment allowance to 'Yes, I qualify' and Save.

This should regenerate the submission and allow you to submit the EPS. You can see all your previous EPS submissions from the Payroll Tax Centre. Check this link for more info: View submitted EPS filings in QBO Standard Payroll.

I'll be right here to help if you need further assistance. Have a great day,

I managed to delete the EPS applying for the Employers Allowance on Standard Payroll.  I did as advised and changed the payroll settings to not eligible for the allowance, saved and then then changed them back to being eligible and saved.  After this I deleted all the pay runs and re-submitted the EPS and then re-instated all the pay runs.  However, QBs is still showing the EPS was deleted and HMRC have not received the amended EPS.  Can anyone tell me where I went wrong as it looks like I need to do it all again!

Many thanks.

Hi there, Vicky.

You've done the correct process of resubmitting the EPS and reinstalling all the pay runs. Since HMRC does not receive the amended EPS and its status shows as deleted, I would recommend reaching out to our Support Team to check and review this further.

To contact support:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks, then go to the Help (?) menu.
  2. Tap on the Payroll button.
  3. Select QuickBooks Standard Payroll Hub. The respective Self-help is displayed.
  4. If you want to contact support directly, type ‘Chat’ in the ‘Type Something’ field, then Enter
  5. Select Ask me a questionAsk the QuickBooks Community or Live chat.
  6. Click on Live chat.
  7. Enter your question, then select Let's talk.
