You can file a nil payroll EPS submission to HMRC on QuickBooks Online Standard and Advanced Payroll. Simply run the payroll periods with zero figures and submit the most recent EPS. If you're using the Standard version of QBO payroll, you'll need to delete any overdue EPS (from the Taxes > Payroll tax screen) before submitting the current EPS.
If you'd like an advisor to go through this with you, you can call our team on 0808 234 5337 or begin a chat.
How do you run a nil payroll in Core?
You can generate a zero payroll report and then submit the most recent EPS, @Nicki12. I will provide further explanation.
For QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll Core, you can file a nil payroll EPS submission to HMRC by having the payroll periods with zero figures and submitting the most recent EPS. With this, be sure to delete any overdue EPS before submitting the current EPS. I'll guide you through the process.
Additionally, complete a P45 form in QuickBooks if an employee plans to leave your company in the future. This will help ensure accurate recording of their tax and National Insurance contributions. For more information, you can refer to this resource: P45 forms in QuickBooks Online Payroll.
Feel free to reach out if you require further assistance with handling nil payroll or if there's anything else I can help you with. I'm available to assist you 24/7. Have a great day.
Hi,
I specifically asked how to do this in Core payroll, your answer covers Standard and Advanced but not Core. Please could you advise for Core payroll.
Hi Nicki12 To inform HMRC of a period of inactivity/non payment when you're using the Core payroll system you'd have to submit an EPS in between the 6-19th of the following month. The EPS should be automatically generated within the payroll taxes section on the 6th of the following month as long as nothing has been done/ran for the pay period in question.
