I am trying to run payroll for two employees. Unfortunately, I can't select one of them to run payroll because I get "On 30/06/2024, this employee was paid £xxx.".

Both employees have the same settings, with the exception of personal details and were paid on the same date for the previous period when we ran payroll.

Thanks! It's solved. The payment that had been done, although it was done a month ago, it was wrongly done for the current period, Hence it would not let me run it. I deleted the previous run and created the correct one for the previous period. It then let me run the one for the current period.

Welcome to the Community forum, @aarango.

I'll assist you and provide some clarification to ensure your employees receive their salary on time by running payroll in QuickBooks Online.

The reason you can't select both of your employees and get the prompt "On 30/06/2024, this employee was paid £xxx." is because it's already paid. This means that you already ran payroll for that employee on that pay period date.

If your reason is to add or correct a pay run, you have the option to delete and recreate it to update and make significant changes associated with the chosen pay run. If the payroll is verified correctly, you can create a different pay schedule.

Before deleting a pay run, make sure to print out payslips and reports for the specific pay run that you want to delete. This will ensure that you have all the necessary information when recreating it. Keep in mind that QuickBooks will delete the corresponding FPS, irrespective of whether it was submitted to HMRC or not.

Here's how to delete the pay run:

1. Go to Payroll and select Employees.

2. Choose the employee who needs their pay run to be deleted and select the most recent pay period.

3. On the Payroll Payment List tab, find the pay run you want to delete and select "Delete" from the dropdown options.

4. Choose to Delete this payroll payment or Close to cancel.

5. Repeat these steps for any additional pay runs that you need to delete.

If you have a different goal in mind, please feel free to give me more details about why you need to run payroll for the same date as your previous payroll period. Your cooperation in providing additional information is greatly appreciated, as it will help us find the best solutions.
