I have a missing payroll. December (due 16/12/24) is missing. I ran payroll today but it ran it for Jan instead. Is there a way of running payroll for a prior month?

January payroll has run (though I thought it was Decembers). I want to either backout Januarys - or run the missing December one. This is for Quickbooks online with basic payroll

I can help run your payroll for December, Thorne. Let's work together to resolve this.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can run payroll by going to the Payroll menu. Then, select the correct pay period.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll, then select Run Payroll.
  2. Click a pay schedule, then select Continue.
  3. Select the employees you want to pay.
  4. Verify that you have selected the correct pay period and pay date. You can also modify them as needed.
  5. Change the employee's pay method as needed.
  6. Enter hours worked, if applicable. You can hide or show pay types by selecting the Customise table.
  7. Hit Preview Payroll.
  8. Verify that you have selected the correct bank account.
  9. Tap the magnifying glass icon next to the cheque's net pay to edit or preview a specific cheque, then select Save when done.
  10. Pick Submit payroll.
  11. Choose Print paycheques, then select Finish payroll to print paycheques.

Hi

Thanks for the response, but when I change the payroll period I am unable to select either of the two employees as the box is greyed out and wont let me select either – or the “select all” box.

Thank you for getting back to this thread, Thorne. I assure you that I will share how to resolve this missing payroll for December in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

If you still have the option to delete or void the paycheck for January, I recommend doing so by following the steps below:

1. Go to the Payroll tab, then Employees.

2. Select the Paycheck list.

3. Select the paycheck(s) you'd like to delete or void, then select EditDelete, or Void.

4. Select Yes.

If the paycheck can be deleted, recreate each employee's paycheck for the accurate month (December) to ensure accuracy in your payroll records within QBO.

If the paychecks have already been processed, I recommend contacting our Customer Support team. They can securely review your account and assist you in changing pay period dates.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Log into your QuickBooks account.
  2. Click the Help option in the upper-right corner.
  3. Tap the Contact Us button.
  4. Choose a topic from the boxes or tap the Ask about something else box.
  5. Next, state your concern in the box. Example: Refund concerns. Then, press the Continue button.
  6. After that, select between the two options: Have us call you or Schedule an Appointment.
