Import Supplier Bill With Items

Hi,

New QBO user here after being forced to move over from QB Desktop. So far not finding it too bad and finding some things better than QB Desktop but some other things not so good.

I see there is an option to import bills but I do not see an option to import bills with items. Does anyone know if this is possible as my business is retail so most of my supplier bills are for purchase of stock.

Also most supplier bills are not provided as CSV files, they are mostly PDF. Does anyone know of a way to import supplier PDF invoices with stock items included?

Thank you

Import Supplier Bill With Items

Welcome to QuickBooks Online, @HM

I can see the relevance of importing PDF invoices that includes stock items. Let me lay some information about the importing topics.

We can only import information to QuickBooks Online using a CSV file, Google Sheets, or an XLS/XLSX file. QuickBooks Online provides tools to help you import data from these file formats. With that, we can import data from Excel. And there isn't a way to upload them through a PDF file.

Furthermore, importing stock items isn't included in the mapping format. We can use Line Item Description instead.

Additionally, You'll want to convert your PDF file to an Excel; we can utilise a third-party application that does this function. Please visit this link: QuickBooks App Store. Some applications are ready to integrate with QuickBooks Online.

To learn more about using QuickBooks Online, managing your account, and handling invoices and subscriptions, see this article for additional references: Manage billing, payment, and subscription info in QuickBooks Online.

Thank you for choosing Quickbooks Online. Know that we are here to guide you in discovering the tools available in QBO. Have a nice day.

Import Supplier Bill With Items

Hi @HM2019

I know it is some time since your question but I hope this may also help other users.  Whilst import Bills that are in PDF format into QuickBooks Online is not supported directly, it is possible using one of the Data import utilities that you can find in the Intuit Apps for QuickBooks.

In particular an app that does support importing PDF files directly into your QuickBooks Online company file and extracting the data from the PDF file and creating the bill directly is called Axis Online.  You can try it out with a free demo account.

Hope that helps.
