Invoice design, will it ever improve?

Will the invoice design ever be improved? I use Quickbooks on the recommendation of my accountant and I find it fine to use.
However, I run a design business and the state of the invoice templates is so shabby it is embarrassing.
There is an option to change one font and one font size, yet QB displays the address font as tiny, the body as medium, and the payment details as huge. The leading on Arial is ridiculously large and different sizes in the address and payment text areas. I am not asking for any fancy features, I just want a consistent and professional look.
A client uses Xero and his invoices are neat and fonts have a consistent size throughout the document.
The idea that I have to use Microsoft Word as a design tool seems backwards and there are many discussions on here about the problematic results it produces. Anyway, does anyone know if there is a roadmap for improving the templates or customisation of forms, should I just move to Xero, or is there a decent way to override the inconsistent fonts and spacing in QB?

You may explore a free invoicing app, but you will need a connector to mirror the data back to your QBO. Otherwise, switching to another accounting app is inevitable and you can purchase a 3rd party conversion service if required.

I appreciate you taking the time to write your concern here, @James Oxford.

I heard your sentiments with regards customising an invoice in QuickBooks Online. I'm here to shed some light. I know how important it is to create a professional-looking invoice in QuickBooks Online.

There are available apps that suit your needs. I recommend utilising a QuickBooks-integrated third-party application.

These assist and give you more options in customising invoices, data entry, and other tasks. These simple integrations help businesses run more smoothly by streamlining procedures.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your Company file.
  2. On the left navigation bar, Click Apps
  3. You can find the app you need from there or search them directly on the search bar.

I'll be adding this article in case you need more information: Customise invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can also read this article for the complete details: Add, customise, or remove logos on sales forms.

I'm always happy to share some more, let me know by replying to us. Have a pleasant day ahead.

Thank you for your suggestion of using a third-party integration, that indeed could be a solution. I have searched though the Apps and have found nothing appropriate yet.
If you know of any specific Apps, please let me know.

I find it bizarre that QB talks about having a professional and eye-catching invoices, yet the invoices don't even follow basic design principles, inconsistent font sizing, incorrect leading, bad layout.
The tools to customise are basic and not fit for purpose. For example I can set one font size and yet the invoice produces fonts at differing sizes over which there is no control.

In 2022 when so much progress has been made on UX design perhaps QB could hire an actual designer to fix this.
Again, I don't need anything complex, just basic, consistent typography and spacing.

Explore this free invoicing app

https://go.zoho.com/FuW

then utilize a connector to migrate data automatically to QBO.

Another option, consider having a project management app to integrate with QBO and utilize the invoice feature.

Thank you for your replies.

Zoho indeed has properly formatted invoice templates that look neat.

However, all of these solutions are overkill for a very simple problem, I would need to import and export data and maintain connections across different software.
I don't need to overcomplicate my accounting I want one good integrated solution.
Why wouldn't it be better to just move to Zoho than have to integrate two softwares?

The best solution would be for QuickBooks to just remove whatever styling is outputting differently sized text. So we have at least one plain consistent template choice. Or preferably work with a designer and produce an elegant solution, with a few more font choices and correct spacing.

It's up to you to decide. You can purchase a 3rd party conversion service as I mentioned earlier.
