Hey, I have just got QB Pro 2019 and I am desperate to upload my bank statements from Jan. I am missing the "Banking" Tab, which should assist in uploading CSV File of my bank statement. Is it possible to do the upload and if yes, how do I go about it?

Greetings, @Opash.

Are you referring to uploading/downloading your bank transactions (WebConnect files) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT)? If so, yes, it's possible to do that! Let me show you how:

1. Open QuickBooks, then go to the File menu at the upper left.
2. Pick Utilities, then Import and Web Connect Files.

3. Select the file you saved, then Open.
4. When prompted to Select Bank Account, pick:

  • Use an existing QuickBooks account if the account you are importing the transactions into is already set up in QuickBooks.
  • Create a new QuickBooks account if the account you are importing the transactions into is not yet in QuickBooks. Type a name.

5. Click Continue.
6. Once done, hit OK.

After that, go to the Bank Feed Centre to review the transactions. This can be done by clicking the Banking menu at the top, then choosing Bank Feeds and Bank Feeds Center.

That should point you in the right direction. For additional information, consider checking out this article: Download Bank Feed transactions.

Keep me posted on how it goes or if you're referring to something else. I'm always here to help. Cheers!

Hi @Opash,

Let me suggest an alternative way of uploading your CSV file. We'll need to to install the QuickBooks Import Excel and CSV toolkit first.

Here's how:

  1. Open the file download window for the toolkit.
    • If you're using Google Chrome, it will automatically run the file and install the toolkit.
  2. If you have a different browser, locate the file you've downloaded and run it.
  3. Select Browse, choose a location where you want to install the toolkit (such as your Desktop), then OK.
  4. Select Unzip to extract the contents, and then click Close to close the WinZip Self-Extractor window.
  5. Go to the location you've selected in step 3 to open the QuickBooks Import Excel and CSV folder.

The folder located on step 5 contains the Import from Excel and CSV Manual. It's a PDF document with instructions on how you can use the toolkit to import your CSV file to QuickBooks.

Once you're done and you want to reconcile your bank account, take a look at this article: Reconcile bank and card accounts in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'll be here to answer any other questions you might have. Leave them in the comments below and I'll get back to you.

Hey, Thanks for your input. However, it seems the kit is for 2008 QB. I am running QB Desktop 2019. And I must be missing something to do the upload. What is it I am missing? Cheers Kihara

Hey @Opash,

Uploading Comma-Separated Values (CSV) files is possible in QuickBooks. But you’ll need to go through the Banking menu to achieve this.

Since you’re not able to see the Banking menu, let’s run your Verify & Rebuild Data utilities to isolate if there’s a problem with your company file.

  1. To Verify Data:
    1. Click on File from the menu bar.
    2. Choose Utilities, then click on Verify Data.
    3. If you see QuickBooks detected no problem with your data, select OK.
    4. If Verify finds an issue with your data, you will be prompted to Rebuild Now or View Errors.
  2. To Rebuild Data:
    1. Click on File from the menu bar.
    2. Choose Utilities, then click on Rebuild Data.
    3. On the QuickBooks Information window, select OK.
    4. If your screen displays QuickBooks is not responding but your cursor is moving, Rebuild is still ongoing.
    5. Select OK when you see Rebuild has completed.

Then, if you can see the Banking menu, you can now upload your CSV files.

You can always let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I’ll be around to help.

Hey, Thanks for the feedback. Is this the screen I should be seeing, I have no options to upload my statement at all? Or am I missing something? I really hope I can get it working. Cheers Kihara

Yes, you're on the correct screen, Kihara.

After clicking the Banking menu, you can select Bank Feeds > Import Web Connect File.

However, QuickBooks Desktop only accepts a Web Connect (.QBO) file. I'd recommend downloading it from your bank's website.

If you still want to use your .CSV file, you can look for a ".CSV to .QBO" file converter.

Once you've acquired the Web Connect (.QBO) file, you can already import it to QuickBooks:

Then you start categorizing, adding, and matching your banking transactions.

If your bank also offers Direct Connect service, you might consider using it. You can download your banking transactions without using a Web Connect file. Here's an article for reference: Set Up Account for Bank Feeds.

Have a great day!

Hey, Thanks. My banks don't do the QBO files so I guess I have to convert. Any suggestions on a convertor? Cheers Kihara

Hello there, Kihara.

I can't suggest for a specific file converter, but you can easily search them online.

After converting the file, you can use the articles I've provided on my earlier reply to import it in QuickBooks.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Hey, It is the one thing I have searched for for a long time and have found maybe 2 only at over US$50 to buy.... ouch.... Thanks for your support though, let me see if there is a workaround possible. Cheers Kihara
