HMRC payments

On my yearly summary, my payments to HMRC have been added to my business expenses. Is this right, or should I exclude those transactions?

HMRC payments

It's a pleasure to have you here today, @Kev66. I'll provide details about HMRC payments and how you can handle them inside QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

Categorising HMRC payments can have an impact on your records inside QBSE. In this situation, you'll want to check the payment, review the current categorization, and make the necessary changes. Also, HMRC payments are categorised under Business and then Taxes inside the program. For more information and to learn more about how to handle these types of transactions, please see this page: Allowable and disallowable expenses explained.

We also recommend contacting or working with an accountant if you're unsure which category to use when dealing with HMRC payments. If you don't have an accountant, we can help you find one. Feel free to visit this page: Find a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Moreover, here's an article that you can visit to help secure a copy of your business reports: Export transactions and get reports in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

If you need help managing tax payments or completing tasks inside QuickBooks, we encourage you to visit us anytime. We are here to extend a helping hand. Take care.
