I'm trying to have a tidy up of Quickbooks and would like to make an old Product/Service inactive, but it's the very first one I used to set up Quickbooks in the first place, so when I try to make inactive, I end up with "Error This needs to be active because it's the default product or service for sales."
Is there a way to change the default to another one?
I can see the need to modify a default Product/Service in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Nick.
Please know that QuickBooks Online generates an equipped default service item to track your sales and the hours worked. The ability to inactivate it is currently unavailable. You can leave this item as is.
For now, I recommend sending feedback directly to our Product Developers team. They can further review which parts of the program need enhancements and consider adding this ability to future updates. Please refer to the steps below:

I've checked here on my end, and the QuickBooks Online feature requests forum has been closed. This is why you're only seeing the suggestion board for the QuickBooks Online mobile app. Rest assured, once you submit feedback using the steps provided by my colleague above, it will be directed to our product engineers, who may consider adding it to the program's future updates.
