My posts on other threads are being ignored by Quickbooks representatives for weeks on end, so I am starting another thread here.
Quickbooks representatives have confirmed that QBSE "will not fully satisfy or provides HRMC request for more detailed financial information if your business needs complex accounting features since QBSE only has basic features."
Quickbooks representatives have also confirmed that QBSE is not suitable for HMRC requirements for MTD (Making Tax Digital).
QBSE is therefore not suitable to be sold and marketed as an Accounting Software for Self Employed businesses and should not be advertised as such.
This is a request for Intuit / Quickbooks to be honest and transparent with their customers about the limitations of the product that is being marketed and advertised as 'Accounting Software' - it is NOT effective Accounting Software - it is an aid to completing the Tax Return - this is the only feature that is is capable of doing.
QBSE is currently being mis-sold to to customers who are needing an Accounting Software for their Self employed businesses.
If QBSE are advertising this as Accounting Software, they need to provide features like Custom Categories, which will help towards making their product suitable for MTD and suitable for HMRC if they request to see a business's accounts.
Currently QBSE is currently NOT accepted by HMRC and NOT suitable for Making Tax Digital (as confirmed by your own representatives) - Be honest with your customers and in your advertising - or provide the product that you are advertising!
I see how you want QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) to work for your tax needs. I'm here to outline and help you with how can this be beneficial for you, JSSE.
QuickBooks Self-Employed is compliant with VAT-registered individuals under the MTD framework. This allows you to keep records digitally
so you can organize your financial data throughout the year.
Aside from that, the software helps you categorise your income and expenses according to HMRC guidelines, calculate estimated tax liability, and fill in the details in the Self Assessment tax return form.
If you're looking for software that will directly file your taxes, you can upgrade to QuickBooks Online (QBO). This offers more robust business features suitable to manage more complex tax scenarios such as VAT, payroll taxes, and detailed financial reporting.

Hello Maria,
You don't seem to have read my message. At least your answer doesn't not relate to the content of my message or offer anything helpful or constructive in relation to it.
Please read the message above and respond with something that connects to what the message says.
QuickBooks representatives have already confirmed in other threads that QBSE is NOT accepted by HMRC if they request to see Self Employed Business Accounts - it is also NOT accepted by HMRC for Making Tax Digital.
I am aware that QBSE can be used as a Tax Return Aid - but it is not an effective Accounting Tool - which is what it is falsely advertised and marketed as.
Intuit / Quickbooks should either stop advertising this product as Accounting Software and be transparent and honest about the Software's limitations in their marketing - or provide customers with an actual Accounting Software as advertised which would be accepted by HMRC and acceptable for MTD.
Real Accounting software would require categories that match the business - these should be customisable by users.
Please provide real Accounting software - or stop falsely advertising QBSE as Accounting Software - it is currently just a Tax Return Aid - NOT effective or proper Accounting Software.
