You can still use Quickbooks Desktop after 30 June - here's how.
1. Disable Quickbooks Automatic Updates. Go to Task Manager and disable everything to do with Quickbooks - you don't need them if they are not supporting!
2. Restart your computer but do not open Quickbooks Desktop ... yet or any other applications.
3. Change the date on your system.. Click on the clock / date at the bottom right of your screen and go to Date and time settings. Untick "Set the time automatically" and change the date and time to 30 June 2023.
4. Open Quickbooks desktop and open a company file. It should open no problem.
5. Change the date on your system back.. Click on the clock / date at the bottom right of your screen and go to Date and time settings. Untick "Set the time automatically" so the time reverts to the actual time so you can use other applications.
You should be able to use Quickbooks desktop as normal. Bear in mind that Quickbooks will still think the date and time is how you set them earlier - but you can still enter transactions for any date - even into July and forwards.
Let me know how you get on!

My god, it works a treat !!
Well done to you
I totally agree with you on this subject. Intuit and Quickbooks just do not care about those who wish to remain on the desktop versions.
I do not trust cloud and the fact you can not work offline as well as online is a major issue which nobody has even considered. How can you work and complete the work on time if your internet provider is down for days or weeks on end.
Surely, with the amount of confidential information that as accountants we have to hold on clients and abide by the money laundering laws, due diligence, GDPR, HMRC requirements we need the facility to store their data offline.
All I get from Quickbooks is that they can not help with these problems that will eventually arise. Just wait till cloud gets hacked all the data stored on it becomes available worldwide to anybody. Perhaps then they might shut the door, which will be way to late.
This is just a profiteering opportunity by the software companies with the monthly subscription fees and as you say clients will not want to pay these fees and then that leaves us trying to figure out how to make a profit whilst absosrbing these costs.
How can we cover ourselves from breach of GDPR when we are in a no win situation. Clients saying no to cloud and HMRC saying cloud based only. HMRC stance on this issue was just to tell the clients they have to use cloud storage regardless. Surely that it taking away their freedom to choose under the Human Rights Act.
I am switching most of my clients to VT transactions, it is a learning curve but there is only one annual fee and the data automatically uploads into VT Accounts, which in turn can be linked to tax software I think.
Hi Folks!
Is this work around still working? Can you still access QuickBooks desktop pro?
I want to feed this back to our IT support company if it is.
If you are working in a network environment, this solution is not recommended. You must prepare a stand-alone machine for this purpose.
Hi thanks for the advice. Our IT support company are trying to work out whether its worth taking the PC in question off the network as suggested, or uploading a virtual copy to the cloud to use in isolation there. We dont need access all the time but sometime it would be helpful to export formatted reports. We just wondered if it was still working for everyone before we spend any further time on this.
I have downloaded my company file from a backup following the steps provided but i can only see reports. I am looking to find sales and purchase invoices but can not see the option anywhere. Any help on how to do this?
You can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2021 to restore your backup file and access your historical data for good.
