Ive just signed up to quick books self employed and have spent the afternoon going in circles trying to connect stripe to QB's. I see there are apps but why do I need to pay for additional apps when I'm already paying for a monthly subscription?????
There were some limited use free apps available but none of the ones I tried would connect, or if they did connect they didnt work. I tried Greenback, which was horrifically complex so I gave up and Synder which was easy to connect and showed a connection in QB and Synder but no info was showing in y Dashboard.
Its very frustrating. I treid to disconnect the connection between the two above metioned apps and my QB account but the disconnect buttons do not work!!!
This is such shame as I now need to cancel my subscription as nearly half my sales go through Stripe and I will have to add them manually which is what I wanted to avoid.
There are lots of other, and free, accounting softare that allows you to connect to stripe as standard and also easily upload CVS files, which QB makes almost impossible to do.

Yes, you need to have QuickBooks Online (QBO) so you can connect Stripe, PerfectCuppa.
I'm also glad to let you know that you can migrate to QBO from the existing QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) data. Please refer to this article for instructions and detailed steps: Move your QuickBooks Self-Employed data to QuickBooks Online.
Don't forget to cancel your QBSE plan so you won't be charged for the subscription. Then, choose Simple Start or other plans through this link: QuickBooks plan and pricing.
Once you're all set up with QBO, here's how to connect an app:

Hi @thewoollyrabbit,
I can understand how it feels when an application you use isn't working as you'd expect it to be. Let me take care of your queries.
For QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), the 3rd party app you can connect for online payments is PayPal. Stripe isn't available, which would explain why you're unable to connect to it.
As for the payment on 3rd party apps, it's because it's an additional service being offered by a 3rd party company, which is why there's a different fee for it.
If you wish to proceed with using Stripe, it's available to connect with QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can continue to cancel your QBSE subscription and subscribe to a QBO company instead.
Do you have other questions in mind? Post them below, and I'll be sure to get back to you.
Thank you, I have cancelled my QBSE account, does the QB Online connect to Stripe directly without an app?
I have cancelled my account and treid to start a new one with QBOnline but it won;t let me sign up as I already have an account. How do I proceed?
Thank you
All sorted now thank you
Hello again, @thewoollyrabbit. Thanks for keeping us updated.
To connect Stripe with QuickBooks Online, you'll need to go through the Apps menu in your QuickBooks account. Here's how:
As for your other concern, you can still sign up in QBO with the same credentials. Just click the Sign In button in the prompt message. Once done, enter your Email address (User ID) and Password. Then, Sign in.
That's it! Keep me posted on how things go @thewoollyrabbit. I'm always here for you if you need anything else. Have a great day!
Hi,
I use QBSE and would like to connect Stripe.
Can I upgrade to QBO and if so will all my data for this year be transfered?
Many thanks, Melanie.
Hello melaniejswan,
It is not possible to upgrade from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online due to feature differences.
If you use QuickBooks to produce a Tax Summary for Self-Assessment we would recommend continuing with the Self-Employed product. You can however take a trial of our online product from the link below to make sure this is the correct product for you before switching.

Hi,
From your previous message I thought the integration would be free when using QBO but when I search for stripe in apps it only suggests apps that are not free.
Any suggestions? I'd like to have my stripe invoices put automatically into quickbooks.
Thanks
Hello there, issardp,
The process of integrating Stripe to QuickBooks Online (QBO) is free. The only time that you need to pay for the app is when you don't have an existing Stripe app.
You need to have an active Stripe account first, then connect it to QBO.
QuickBooks offers many third-party apps to integrate with your subscription. Here's how you can look at reviews for Stripe for QuickBooks Online:

Hi,
Thanks for your answer but I still can't find how to connect my stripe account for free.
I just tried connecting my stripe account to quickbooks with the Stripe for Quickbooks online link you gave in your message but then it asks me to pay £15/month...
When I follow the steps you suggested the list of apps I get are all not free so what is the way to connect stripe to quickbooks for free?
I have a stripe account and a quickbooks online account and I'm based in the UK. I just want to get my stripe invoices to be automatically added as a quickbooks invoice so that I don't have to do it manually.
I used to have this working but it stopped a month ago and I can't remember how I had set this up over a year ago.
Hi Issardp. There is no direct integration with Stripe, if you have had this in the past it will have been an app. The apps are made by third parties so most involve a cost, even if they have a free trial period. Do you have an I.T department? The other option would be developing an app to integrate the information you want into QuickBooks which our developers can help with.more info available here

Hi, when you say that to connect to Stripe to take payments this way, we need to have QBO (quickbooks online), which plan option is that? Can I move to Simple start & will that work?
And I have been using QBSE for years, so I can just upgrade & take my existing data with me?
Thanks

Thank you so much for the quick reply! That makes sense.

If you have to open a new QBO account, make sure to click the Buy button to get the discounted price for up to a few months. If you purchase from the Trial account, you have to pay the regular rate.
As an additional option, explore this app to reconcile your Stripe transactions into your QBO account later.

I do not see any app called Stripe. Only third party apps that may allow connecting with Stripe.
Stripe doesn't support QBO natively. I only know 2 other accounting apps that can be integrated with Sripe without any connector.
