Unable to find Cash Flow Planner online & in IOS. Have Cash Flow chart (no prediction) in online dashboard

In a recent Quickbook webinar organised by our accountant agency and Quickbooks, we were told that the Cash Flow Planner (Beta) is available to all online users and IOS users. I saw 'Cash Flow' listed in the left land panel on the web version on the trainer's screen, and the Cash Flow button in shortcuts in his IOS, when clicked, there is the chart that shows prediction to future months.

However I couldn't find the menu entrance nor the chart with a prediction on cash flow in our web versoin and on IOS. The trainer said we should speak to our accountant for access, but our accountant said we should check with Quickbooks. Could anyone please help and advise what we need to do?

Thanks

Unable to find Cash Flow Planner online & in IOS. Have Cash Flow chart (no prediction) in online dashboard

Thanks for coming back to us, @Carolyn Y L. I'm here to help ensure you're able to use the Cash Flow Planner in QuickBooks Online.

To clarify, the planner can only be accessed in these following conditions:

  • You'll need to have the latest version of the iOS app. Web and android will be added later.
  • It will only work if multi-currency is turned off and GBP is set as home currency
  • Accountants can only access this through their client's accounts if the client has enabled it.

The planner gets data from a few sources. It pulls up from the following:

  • Your connected bank and credit card accounts
  • Transactions you've entered into QuickBooks with a due date in the future
  • Transactions you add manually to the planner

To use this feature, you'll need to set up your planner first. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Cash Flow menu.
  2. Follow the onscreen steps to set up the planner.

Then, follow the steps below to get your latest forecast:

  1. In the Cash Flow menu, select the dates filters to set the forecast range.
  2. Choose the Money in/out, and Cash balance to filter the list.
  3. Drag the bar across the chart to a specific date to show you a list of transactions that may impact your cash flow.

For more information, check out this article: Use the Cash Flow planner to predict future income and expenses.

For additional insights, read through the overview of this feature in this article: Cash Flow Planner. It helps you learn about how it works and what data is included in the forecasting.

In order to turn cash flow planner on you need to go to

The main cogwheel> under setting column you will see one call Quickbooks Labs> click Quickbooks Labs> toggle on cash flow dashboard widget.

Once it is turned on you will see it in your account.

Unable to find Cash Flow Planner online & in IOS. Have Cash Flow chart (no prediction) in online dashboard

Hi Ashleigh, thank you. I did have it toggled on in the Labs. That is why I have the cash flow chart in the dashboard now, which as I mentioned, is only a true reflection of the cash flow in the past till now, there is no prediction for upcoming months. Also when I clicked on any month in the chart, the next page never loads. So I am not sure if this is an access issue or there is some hidden feature I failed to find...

Unable to find Cash Flow Planner online & in IOS. Have Cash Flow chart (no prediction) in online dashboard

Hello Carolyn Y L,

With you being able to enable it I don't think it is to do with a user status. Can you try clearing your cache and cookies, close the browser down reload it and log back into your Quickbooks account and see if it shows the information for you or not and let us know?

Out of interest what user status do you have?

Hi Ashleigh, It is still the same after the clearing and reloading. The user type I have is 'Admin', status 'active'. Our accountant agency is the 'master admin' user.

Thanks for joining the thread, Karen.

I see the importance of having a Cashflow Planner inside QuickBooks Online (QBO) mobile. Upon checking here on our end, you'll want to ensure that the multicurrency option isn't active inside your company. If enabled, the Cashflow Planner may not appear inside your mobile app.

Additionally, I've got this article to learn more about what features are available inside the mobile app version of the program: Compare mobile app features.

In case there's anything else that you'd like me to help you. Feel free to post here again. I'll be here, ready to assist you. Take care, and have a nice day!

Unable to find Cash Flow Planner online & in IOS. Have Cash Flow chart (no prediction) in online dashboard

I appreciate you coming back to this thread, Karen. Yes, you can use a mobile device to access the Cash Flow planner in QuickBooks Online (QBO), and I'm here to explain how.

The Cash Flow Planner is an interactive tool that projects your business cash flow, or the amount of money coming in and out. This feature is currently unavailable for QBO companies with Multicurrency turned on.

If you didn't enable it in your account, you must first set up the Cash Flow planner to access this feature. To do that, go to the Business Overview, select Planner, and complete the on-screen instructions.

When you've already set up online banking with your external bank accounts, you're good to go. QBO predicts upcoming cash-in and cash-out transactions by automatically analysing the activity in these accounts. You may see which are connected in the Linked Accounts section of the Cash Flow menu.

Check out this article for more details.: Use the cash flow planner in QuickBooks Online.

Moving forward, track your cash flow by using various reports and estimates to gain a clear picture of your current and future business finances.

Stay in touch whenever you have follow-up concerns about using the Cash Flow planner in QBO mobile app. We're always available around the clock to address your queries. Take care, and have a good one!

Unable to find Cash Flow Planner online & in IOS. Have Cash Flow chart (no prediction) in online dashboard

Hi

Multi-currency is not enabled and I'm already using the cashflow planner via the browser, but I cannot find an option or menu when using the app.

Thanks for coming back here in the thread, Karen.

If you're not using the Multicurrency option and still the Cashflow Planner doesn't show in the app, I'd recommend clearing the app's data. This way, you can start with a clean slate, and the app will be refreshed. If it persists, you can consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the app. Doing this rule out the possibility of having a corrupted application, and also please ensure to have the latest version of the mobile app to utilize all available features and fix the bug. I'll input the steps to get you going:

  1. In your phone, go to Settings.
  2. Click on General, and then choose iPhone Storage.
  3. To free up the storage without deleting the documents and data for the app, select Offload App.

You can also contact our Customer Care Team if it continues to not work. This way, they can assign a representative to check on your end and determine the root cause of the issue. See this article for more information: QuickBooks Online Support.

Additionally, here's an article in case you'd create personalised invoices inside the app, you can refer to this page for further guidelines: Customise invoices on the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

Please let me know how it goes, Karen. I'm determined to help you get this sorted out as soon as possible. Stay safe, and have a nice day!
