Hi Meggle The self employed product automatically defaults to the Simplified expenses method/pence per mile. If you don't use this method then and you account for expenses relating to your vehicle on an individual basis then you would have to categorise these expenses as Travel expenses. Categorising the transactions as Travel will populate the amount as allowable in box 20.

Welcome to the Community, @propserv.

In QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), if you are manually entering the expenses and setting them to car/vehicle expense (rather than using the mileage tracker), it will automatically come through the disallowance when you attach the category. Only travel expenses will be allowable.

Also, I highly suggest consulting your accountant for help claiming this expense to make it allowable.

I have the same problem - I need my car for business but I am not doing the mileage because of Covid restrictions. Nevertheless I still have to maintain my vehicle with for example, tax, MOT, service.  When I put the transactions into my QB account they are disallowed.
