reports are acting weird when run - QB Online UK

Hello,

Following the recent upgrade of QuickBooks Online, there have been notable performance issues encountered specifically with the new version of reports. In certain instances, the reports load quite slowly or intermittently, especially when handling large search periods. Previously, such functionality was smoother in the classic view version.

However, the classic view, which had been functioning adequately before the upgrade, now presents issues when specifying custom date ranges, such as selecting "Custom" for the report period from 01/11/2023 to 15/11/2023. This action results in the system behaving erratically, particularly when attempting to customize columns and settings.

I am curious to know if anyone are experiencing similar issues and what measures have been taken to address this matter.

Thank you for your attention to this concern.

Best Regards,

Shaun

Hello, Shaun! We greatly appreciate your ongoing participation in the Community space. We want to assure you that experiencing runtime problems that can disrupt your business activities with QuickBooks is not our intention. Our goal is to help you resolve your concern promptly.

We understand the importance of ensuring that QuickBooks Online (QBO) runs smoothly. We'll share some troubleshooting steps to help optimize its performance.

Please know that the QBO waiting time is 10 seconds, and we continuously monitor our systems to ensure we meet this goal. However, it's important to note that since this program is web-based, its performance also relies on your computer or device's processing power, available memory (RAM), and the bandwidth of your internet connection.

To speed up its performance, please do the following:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of Google Chrome by navigating to the Chrome menu, selecting Help, and clicking About Google Chrome.
  • Check that your operating system is up to date and meets or exceeds the System Requirements for QuickBooks Online.
  • Verify that your internet speed (bandwidth) is not limiting your QuickBooks Online experience. Run a Google Speed Test to confirm the bandwidth/speed of your connection. To better understand the results of the Google Speed Test, be sure to review how the results are determined and what they mean.

To know more about how these factors affect QBO's performance, check out this article: Why is my QuickBooks Online slow?

I'm all ears if you still need assistance or encounter similar issues with QuickBooks performance. Just leave a comment below, and I'll get back to you, Shaun. Have a great day!

reports are acting weird when run - QB Online UK

Hi Lolly,

I don’t believe it's an issue with my network speed as I've consistently used QuickBooks Online via Firefox since 2019 without any problems. However, this week Intuit UK updated their background and designs, and since then, I've encountered issues..

Could you please run the following reports in Firefox, investigate, and provide me with your observations? I would prefer not to switch to Chrome..

VAT detail report – Go to settings, chose all available options, and set minimum two quarters date range. Probably 6 month worth of data generating atleast 8000 - 12000  rows approx..

Sales by Product/Service Detail – Go to settings, chose all options and set a date range for a month, generating approx 10000 to 15000 rows approx. Try classic view report.

Go to report period. and add date range

I'm interested to know how your screen responds to these tasks..

Kind regards,

Shaun

It can be frustrating when a program that used to function properly suddenly behaved erratically, @ShaunADL. Allow me to provide further troubleshooting steps to help enhance its performance.

I've replicated the tasks on my end, and everything is working as expected. I successfully ran both the VAT Detail and Sales by Product/Service Detail reports using a specific large date range smoothly.

In your case, you might be experiencing some browser-related issues. To fix this, I suggest signing into your QuickBooks Online account using a private window in your Firefox browser. This can prevent storing cookies and browsing history, which might also contribute to the slow performance.

Once signed in, run the following reports again. If it works without issues, that's good to know. You can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. If the issue remains, log in to your account using other supported browsers like Google Chrome, Safari, and Microsoft Edge.

Furthermore, make sure that you have the latest version of Mozilla Firefox to avoid compatibility issues with the program. Always check your operating system is up to date and meets the System Requirements for QuickBooks.

I've included this resource, which might be useful for you in the future if you want to filter your reports to focus on the most relevant details: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted about the result in the comments below. I'll be around to provide the necessary help if you have further questions running reports in QuickBooks.
