Anyone know how to stop QB jumping back to the 'for review' page of banking transactions after editing a categorised expense? Trying to edit many and v. time consuming

Editing as many categorised expense transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is my priority, @gemma-ryder.

The For review tab is the default page when you visit the Banking menu to review your transactions. Ideally, you're able to edit the category of an expense transaction from the For review tab before adding it to your account register. However, when you're trying to edit through the Categorised tab, it'll automatically jump back to the For review page.

That being said, I recommend editing your categorised expenses through your account register or the Account History page. This way, there'll be no need for you to go back to the Categorised page and scroll to the dates you're working on every time. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the expense account and select Account history/View register under the Action column. 80.PNG
  4. Use the Funnel icon to filter transaction details and narrow down your search.
  5. Choose the categorised expense transaction, then click Edit81.PNG
  6. On the transaction's page, make all the necessary category updates.
  7. Select the Save and close option so you'll be routed back to the Account History page. Then, edit as many expense transactions as you need.

Additionally, reviewing your downloaded bank and credit card transactions is a good accounting practice. This is because you're putting your transactions in the correct accounts. To know more about this, you can check out this article: Categorise and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Also, I encourage you to reconcile your accounts every month. This way, you can effectively monitor your income and expenses, as well as detect any possible errors accordingly. You can refer to this article for the step-by-step guide: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

As always, you can leave a comment below or start a new thread if you have any other concerns or banking inquiries. I'll be around ready to help. Take care.
