inter company invoice

I have raised an invoice to a sister company for management fees, but there is no payment for this instead the company has issued shares to the value of the invoice.

How do I show this on quickbooks?  Do I do a Journal entry?

It's nice to have you here on the Community page, @Kazza965.

 

We can add the management fee to the invoice as a line item and apply it when recording an invoice.

 

Before doing the steps, you have to create an expense account for the Management Fee and a Service Item with the income account (Management Fee).

 

To add the Management Fee Expense:

 

  1. Select Chart of Accounts from the Gear icon.
  2. Click on Add new.
  3. Pick Expenses under the Account Type section, choose the detail type, then add the account's name.
  4. Hit Save and close.

 

To create the service item:

 

  1. Click on the Products and Services after the Gear icon.
  2. Choose New, then Service.
  3. Add the necessary information and be sure to select the Management Fee account under the Income account section.
  4. Save the item.
     

After that, we can now create a journal entry to move the transactions:

 

  1. Go to + New menu and then select Journal entry.
  2. Add the account from which you're moving the money.
  3. Enter the Clearing account.
  4. Save the journal entry.
  5. Create a second journal entry.
  6. Add the Clearing account.
  7. Enter the correct account.
  8. Click Save and close.
     

Then, create an invoice associate the service item.

 

  1. Hit the +New tab.
  2. Choose Invoice.
  3. Enter the Management Fees in the line item.

 

Once done, we can now link the payment.
