My bank has approved data sharing for transaction information but the app does not recognise access and it is still requesting it

I appreciate the details a lot, @marian-crenganis.

Since QuickBooks prompts you to send a request to support your financial institution (FI), you'll want to submit it to get your bank added to the supported list of banks in the future updates.

Let me show you how:

  1. Click the Cog Gear on the upper right and then select Bank accounts.
  2. Choose to Connect an account, then type the bank's name.
  3. Click Request support for your bank.
  4. Enter the bank info needed and then click Request.

You can check this article for more information: Find your bank when you connect online banking.

In the meantime, you can add the transactions from your FI by downloading it from their website and uploading it to your QBSE account. You can reference this article for the detailed steps: Manually import transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Also, ensure to review the file format and size to upload it seamlessly. Your bank might give you options when downloading or exporting the file. Pick one of these so you can upload the file into QBSE:

  • Comma-Separated Values (CSV)
  • QuickBooks Online (QBO)

If the format contains 5-columns, you can change it by following the 3-column or 4-column supported template from this article: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.

Additionally, you can refer to this article for more insights on how to organise your bank transactions once it's uploaded to QBSE: Categorise transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please let me know if you need more help by tagging me (@Jovychris_A). I'll assist you as fast as I can. Stay great anytime!

I have already followed those steps. Then after i finish authorising everything with my bank i get to a point where it says i will be logged out and sent back to the app. And it gets stuck on that screen. I waited 5 min for the screen to change and nothing. After that i closed the screen myself and opened the app. No change i am still not connected to my bank. But if i manually check on my bank website it shows i am already authorised for 90 days.

Hi Marian,

Instead of using the app, I would suggest signing in to QBO using a computer browser and try connecting your bank account. If it's the same thing, it would be best to contact our Support team. That way, they can check this further. They can start a screen-sharing session to see more details about this behavior.

  1. Click on Help and choose Contact Us.
  2. Paste your question in the text box and click Let's talk.
  3. Choose between Message an agent or Get a callback.

You can always go back to this thread if you have other questions about online banking. You can also check the references for online banking on the main support page.
