Hello, Paul.
I'd like to give a brief overview on the availability of the Tags feature in the mobile app.
Currently, the Tags feature is only available on the web browser. If using a computer isn't an option for you, you'll want to use your phone's web browser to tag your expense in the meantime.
I would recommend sending feedback to our developers. On the mobile app, tap the three-dotted icon at the top right part of your screen, then select Feedback.
Copy and paste this link to your phone's web browser and log in to your QuickBooks Online account: http://qbo.intuit.com/.
This chart can also help you familiarise the features offered in the mobile app: Compare mobile app features.
You can also learn more about the Tags feature here: Tag transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Do you also need to work on your bank transactions? Check out this article for a guide to help you categorise or match your records: Categorise and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
I'd be glad to give you another helping hand if you have other things to take care of in QuickBooks Online. Just say the word and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
How do I add Tags to a Rule?
Hello SamGd, thanks for posting on this thread, so it is not possible to add tags to a rule in Quickbooks, you could leave this as feedback within the main cog wheel and it gets sent straight to the developers.
Thanks but the main cog wheel has no 'feedback' item?
Not to worry there SamGd, the feedback option is on our online version, not in our self employed option that's why you don't see it as an option to select, so we will pass this on as feedback on your behalf for you to the developers.
