I recently upgraded to QuickBooks Premier 2021 Desktop with 10 users.
I upgraded my Server software which is now the latest MS Server Software available.
I have a S.S.D. on the server too dedicated to just store the QuickBooks Data File.
I have upped the RAM to 32Gb on the server.
However, the performance of QuickBooks is still slow, it can take up to 10 minutes to run Accounts Receivable Ageing Summary report.
I monitor the server performance while QuickBooks is running and the 32gb of RAM on the server is never fully utilised, at it's peak it's only ever uses about 8gb.
How do I get QuickBooks to utilise all the RAM available on the server?
Hello User1011, What is the size of the desktop file can we check, and also is it a local or virtual server that desktop 2021 Premier edition is installed on?
Are you using QB Desktop Premier or QB Desktop Premier Accountant?
How big is the file size?
Hi EmmaM
The size of the file is 10Gb
It is running on a Virtual Server
I am running QB Desktop Premier Accountant
File size is 10Gb
10 GB is only for one QBW file? Are you sure?
Thank you for the follow-up reply, @User1011. I'm here to share with you some information and the troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue you had when working with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
The system takes a longer time to process than usual can be due to the following reasons:

Hi Fiat Lux - Asia
Yes I have double checked the QuickBooks Company File is 10Gb
it has the file extension .QBW
Our experience is that Pro and Premier data files (especially on QB Desktop US and CA version) start to take a long time to run reports at the 150-200 MB size. In addition, Pro and Premier become more susceptible to data corruption and other funky issues if they get to be too large. The Enterprise version was designed to handle a much larger data file. Unfortunately you don't have any option to upgrade to QB Desktop UK Enterprise nor run the Condense Data utility. We are amazed you can still run your company file except the low performance issue. Consider to purchase a 3rd party condense service to split the file. Contact us in private for details.
Hi AngelynT
Yes I have tried the diagnostic tool and I tried to reboot the computer
Both didn't make any difference to the speed.
I also think I have the latest QuickBooks version downloaded.
What is the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop Premier Accountant 2021?
Hello User1011, the latest version of quickbooks desktop premier accountant is 2021.
Oh , yes I have the latest version so.
I used to be able to modify the registry settings, bumping up the amount of RAM that QuickBooks was allocated on the server, is that option still available with 2021.
Hello User1011, We've confirmed with the senior technicians for the desktop who advised the registry settings is not within their remit, you could call our desktop team and they could raise the issue to be investigated if you think from all the steps you have done that it is the file and not the pc or server or connection affecting the speed of the desktop product.
