I know it's important to save an invoice with a negative amount, yanki-citivi-co-. I'm here to share some insights about this.
When creating an invoice, QuickBooks Online won't accept a negative total amount. Thus the reason why you're unable to save the transaction.
If you're referring to a line item, you can add a negative amount as long as the total is positive or zero. Here's how:

As above, a single line on an invoice can be negative but the total invoice cannot be. For a negative total invoice (i.e. to completely or partially cancel a previous invoice) you need to create a Credit Note.
Hope this helps.
I’m adding a minis figure -£135 by using the +/- then 135 as I have done in previous months. This month it’s coming up with “enter a valid amount”
Any help please?
At the risk of sounding repetitive...

Dear Paul,
What Edward Ireland and me are talking about is a single line.
For instance you want to add a Goodwill reduction line, on the browser you could save a single line @ a minus amount. In the app you can't.
Many Thanks
Apologies @yanki-citivi-co- @Edward Ireland
I've never used the mobile app - only via browser.
I’m having the same problem.
I have to take a CIS tax deduction off all my invoice and not able to since the update.
Has there been any resolution to this problem yet??
cheers
Kev
Hi Kev, thanks for joining this thread - our team are continuing to investigate the issue entering the minus amount on the iOS app, in the meantime, you can use the workaround of entering the invoice on the web. Please reach our chat support team on this link so that we can add you to the investigation and notify once resolved. :folded_hands:
The +/- button is missing on the Android app. It's blue & works great on my iPhone, but I'm not seeing a way to enter a negative value on an Android. Please advise. Thanks.
Hello Treeguy, thanks for posting on this page, we have raised this up and enquired about it, in the meantime if you can just do it on the web browser version instead of the app or use the IOS app rather than the android one.
