However, the online software doesn't offer the ability to track assembly items. Alternatively, you can create Bundle items or utilize a third-party application.

Ok so I need to buy an online version - hmm OK, but which one, I am a sole trader with a low turn over 3-4K as this is a hobby bussiness, all I want to do is track items in and out through purchase orders, sales, estimates / quotes, customer data records etc. and generate a P&L reports etc.with my trunover I am not VAT registered

I dont need a package that covers multiple employees etc.as long as I can do the above I am happy 

You will need to have QBO Plus to manage inventories. If you don't need to comply with MTD requirements, you can still consider QB Desktop.
