Transactions not showing for 2022-2023 tax year. Won't let me manually add CSV files either

I'm using quickbooks self-employed. I've gone to do my 2022-2023 tax return as usual and my linked bank account transactions were no longer showing. So, I successfully relinked my account but it's missing all the transactions from that tax year (apart from one random month weirdly). I then followed the instructions to import transactions manually using CSV files (which I've also done before a few years ago) but was met with an error. I've tried everything I can think of. The files are not too large as I tried with smaller versions as well. Is this a quickbooks glitch happening at the moment? I need urgent help as my tax return is due by the end of this month!

I see that you're having issues importing CSV files in your QuickBooks Self-Employed. I'm here to help you with importing your transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) successfully.

Before anything else, I'd appreciate it if you could share more details about the exact error you are receiving. This way, I can identify the best and most appropriate solution for you.

On the other hand, what you can do to isolate this issue is first to ensure that you use the correct CSV format before uploading your transactions to QuickBooks. To learn more about CSV formats, check out this article: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks. Although it is for QuickBooks Online, it works the same way for QBSE.

In the meantime, you can perform basic troubleshooting steps to determine if it is a browser-related issue. Use a private browser to access your account. If this fixes it, we can proceed and clear the cache.

Here’s how to use a private browser:

  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Internet Explorer or Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

You can refer to this article if the steps were successful: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

I'm adding this article for future reference: Overview of QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Hi James,

Thanks for your reply. After posting this I saw another forum about using a private browser to upload the csv files so I tried that and it worked! Thanks so much :)
