Is anyone else having issues with their VAT returns not including all the months required and ability to submit being in error? Also, the reconnect option is not working?

Hello there, @hk-heidi. When preparing VAT returns, make sure that the Accounting Period, Start Date, End Date, and Submission Date fields are correct in order to generate the accurate months. To address this, let's review the Dates field when preparing VAT return, and I'm here to guide you through the process.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Navigate to the Taxes menu, then choose the VAT tab.
  2. Choose the Returns tab, then locate the accurate Open VAT return and click Prepare Return.
  3. In the Prepare Return window, review the Dates fields.
  4. When you're prepared, choose the option to Submit to HMRC.
  5. Tick the I declare the information is true and complete checkbox.
  6.  Click Submit to HMRC once more and wait for a confirmation message to appear. Ensure not to close the page until a receipt confirmation is visible.
  7. After HMRC has accepted the return, click on Done.

Also, could you please confirm the specific error message you received when attempting to submit it? The exact text or a screenshot of the error message can be incredibly helpful for us to pinpoint the potential causes and provide you with more targeted solutions.

In the meantime, I suggest you try to prepare and submit the VAT return in private browsing mode or incognito by using the following keyboard shortcuts based on the type of browser you're using:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

After opening the incognito window, navigate to the QuickBooks Online (QBO) page and attempt to submit your VAT returns. If VAT returns are submitted successfully in incognito mode, go back to your usual browser and clear its cache to refresh your browser settings. If the issue continues, try using a different supported browser.
