Can I unfile a VAT return in Quickbooks?

I've been filing my VAT via my accountant since 2016 and tracking it in QB.

I made a mistake a couple of years back in trying to use QB's own VAT system to track the VAT. Now it's all a bit of a mess, with my books way out of balance.

How can I undo all of the 'filed' data in QB's tax system, or correct it so that it matches the VAT returns I've been sending via my accountant?

Welcome to the Community, evolutional.

Undoing or unfiling a VAT return in QuickBooks Online (QBO) requires pulling up your account, which I am unable to do it here in the Community. I don't want them to be displayed here for security purposes.

That said, I highly suggest contacting our Phone Support team. They're able to pull up your account using their screen-sharing (remote access) tool in a secure environment and fix this for you.

Here's how to reach them:

In your QBO account, click the Help (question mark) icon at the top right.
Select Contact Us at the bottom to connect with our live support.

Just in case, I'll be sharing this article for future reference: Submit a VAT return in QuickBooks.

Please let me know if you have any other issues or concerns in the comment section below. I'm always here to assist. Have a good one!
