You can have sales receipt option on both FOR REVIEW and BANK RULE windows if the VAT is switched on.

I don’t understand why this facility should be related to VAT, but that is how it works. If client has QBO and VAT not switched on, processing receipt from bank feed needs extra time and process!!  Not happy

Bank rule and sales receipt as the transaction type

Hi there, @Melaku.

Setting up bank rules for sales receipts in QuickBooks Online UK is available for bank accounts. This feature is currently unavailable with credit cards, and the system automatically disables any credit card selections when choosing this transaction type.

However, if you're working with bank accounts, and still not getting the option to select Sales Receipt for money in rules, open an Incognito browser. In this mode, your browser doesn't involve saving cookies and browsing history, making it a great place to identify browser issues.

Here are some keyboard shortcuts for your browser:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N for Chrome.
  • Hit Ctrl + Shift + P for Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
  • Hold down Command + Shift + N for Safari.

If the sales receipt option appears when using the incognito or private browser, clear your browser's cache as it could get corrupted and could cause issues running QuickBooks.

For additional reference on how to set and use banking rules, as well as how to categorise and accept the downloaded transactions, I recommend to check the following links:

If you have further questions, please drop a comment below and I'll be happy to help. Have a great weekend.

Thank you for your quick reply. I have seen this reply on other post. I have used incognito, cleared my browser, used different laptop, desktop and IOS, the sales receipt option simple has disappeared from both FOR REVIEW and BANK RULE windows.  The below “Add and Match” link you have attached shows the option of SALES RECEIPT transaction type.  Just forward it at time line 0:57.

Thanks for the quick response, Melaku.

The sales receipts can't be associated with accounts or categories. However, they can be associated by items.

That being said, a sales receipt  won't be recognize by the system when using bank rules.

I've got this article about categorising downloaded transactions for your reference.

Please know that I'm always here if you have other questions. Cheers.
