I have twofold question that I hope someone can help. Following misallocation of my PAYE payments by HMRC, they have now been reallocated and have resulted in an issue for two different years.
For year 21/22 they are saying I didn't claim my Employers Allowance although QB shows that I have. HMRC told me to submit an EPS for said year which I've tried twice now (ensuring that year 21/22 is selected). They are saying that both of these submissions are showing as received for the current year 24/25!!!! Why is it showing as 21/22 selected on QB but being received at HMRC as 24/25 and how do I correct this?
For year 23/24 my records show a different Year to Date figure for CIS suffered than HMRC are showing, resulting in an overdue balance for Month 3. HMRC suggested I submit a new EPS for that year but when I try to do this on QB the EPS figures don't match the P32. The P32 CIS shows the correct year to date figures but the EPS summary only shows two months (MO1 & MO2). How do I correct this to submit an EPS to include MO3 and make the full CIS claim for the year?
Thank you for posting again here in the Community, Leanne. I can see the importance of fixing your issue with PAYE and EPS in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I want to help you resolve them. We can address each issue separately:
The problem seems to be related to the Tax Year selection when submitting the EPS in QBO.
Even though you select 21/22 in QuickBooks, the system defaults to the current tax year (24/25) when submitting the EPS. It can be due to the tax year being set in your Payroll Settings or the HMRC link.
To correct this, ensure the Correct Tax Year in Payroll Settings:
When submitting the EPS, ensure 21/22 is selected. If not, manually correct it via HMRC’s online portal.
If QuickBooks sends the EPS with the wrong year, submit it directly on the HMRC website for 21/22 and reference the unclaimed Employer’s Allowance.
Additionally, the mismatch between the CIS suffered figures in QuickBooks and HMRC for year 23/24 could be due to the following reasons:
You can check that all CIS deductions from months 1, 2, and 3 have been recorded in QuickBooks. You can do this by reviewing the CIS Summary Report in QuickBooks.
If the P32 shows the correct figures but the EPS only includes MO1 and MO2, manually adjust the EPS.
Ensure that all CIS entries for month 3 are included in QuickBooks before submitting. If the figures are correct in the P32 report but not in the EPS, this could be because QuickBooks is not yet including the most recent months’ CIS deductions in the EPS calculation.
To correct this:
If QuickBooks will not automatically update the figures, you can manually adjust the EPS to reflect the correct amounts.
If the issue persists, I suggest clearing your browser cache or using an incognito window to eliminate any session issues with HMRC’s portal.
However, if the same happens, I suggest contacting HMRC support to check for any problems with the tax year allocation or CIS claims.
Furthermore, you can contact our customer support team to help with the process and securely check your account.

Hi again @Maybelle_S
Thank your for your reply. Fristly, I managed to correct the CIS issue (I hope) after posting my message so fingers crossed on that one!
On following your instructions for the EA issue:
Gear Icon (fine)
Payroll Settings (fine)
Tax Year (I can't see where to check/change this)
The options are sub categories of the following headings:
Business Settings
Pay Run Settings
Business Management
Pay Conditions
Advanced
Where here, do I find where to select the Tax Year 21/22 before submitting the EPS?
Kind regards
Leanne
Thanks for your reply, Leanne. I'm glad the CIS issue is improving!
Regarding the Tax Year selection for your EPS submission, I've noticed that there isn’t a direct Tax Year setting in QuickBooks Online Payroll UK. The tax year for your EPS submission is determined automatically based on the payroll period you've selected and the dates on which the pay runs were processed. However, there are a few things to double-check before submitting:
If you are still unsure or if the system is picking up an incorrect tax year, I suggest contacting our customer support team. They can pull up your account securely and check the cause of the problem.
Let me know if this clears things up or if you need further help. I want to ensure everything is taken care of.
Thank you @Maybelle_S . I managed to contact customer support via the chat service and all is now resolved.
