I see you want to run an unscheduled payroll in QuickBooks Online, heimann. I'm here to share some tips and workarounds so you can have this done in no time.
Currently, the option to set up unscheduled payroll is unavailable in QBO UK. For QBO Standard Payroll, you can only do regular payroll. Learn more about moving employees between pay schedules in this module: Multiple Pay Schedules in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.
If you're using Advanced Payroll, you'll want to create a new pay schedule instead. Simply go to the Payroll page and select the New Pay Run option. Fill in the following information in the Create New Pay Run box:

This does not help to create another pay schedule as i need to pay employees who are already on a another pay schedule as a one off for as unscheduled payrun. When i create a new schedule it does not let me add my employees to it as they are all assigned to a different schedule.
i am using the standard version.
No it is a different time period.
I need to backdate some training hours from prior to the employees first payroll which were not paid.
Thanks heimann-services, it's not possible to run an unscheduled pay run on this version - has the payment already been made to the employees, and would you consider adding this as an additional earnings line to the most recent or upcoming pay period?
can i upgrade to the advanced module for just one month?
how do i upgrade?
It wouldn't be recommended to do this, as it requires removing the standard payroll plugin and payroll data is not able to be migrated (meaning year-to-date information would need to be entered each time).
so if i upgrade to Payroll advanced my data will not automatically move over?
Hello Heimann-services no your data doesn’t automatically get moved over when you update from standard to advanced payroll. You would need to ring the support line on 0808 234 5337 so they can raise this up to our tier 2 team who will then be able to migrate the data across for you. So no the only thing that moves over is some employee details, you would have to input all the data again such as ni number, YTD figures if before end of year.
can i make the employee inactive and then re-enroll as suggested to run the unscheduled payrun without submitting to HMRC that the employee has left which would not be true. It would affect how long the employee has been working for in order to be eligible for SMP if HMRC would think the employee left if this is not the case.
