I exported the XLM from HMRC Basic PAYE Tools but Quickbooks does not accept
any ideas why
Hello, Screen Doctor.
Thank you for reaching out to the Community. I'd be happy to help you isolate this issue and make sure you'll be able to import your data.
The .XML (spreadsheet) file is a file format that can be used to export and import data files to a program. To seamlessly import your employees' data, you'll want to ensure you've turned on your QBO Payroll. Let me show you how.
You can also visit this link for more details: Turn on QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.
Once accomplished, you can now import your data to QBO. If you've already turned on your payroll, you'll want to ensure you're using the QBO Standard Payroll to import your data from the HMRC Basic Tools.
If you have the Advanced Payroll version, you'll want to convert your .XML file to Excel or CSV to import your data. You can go to the Apps menu in your QBO account and look for an app that has this feature. You can also visit our QuickBooks Apps store for additional reference.
Please feel free to leave a reply here or on the other thread if you have other questions or concerns. We're always here to help. Have a great day!

Hello Community Users, We just wanted to drop into the thread with an update about importing XLM from HMRC tools. This was investigated and was unable to be resolved. Our engineers reached out to HMRC and they received an answer back from HMRC that unfortunately they won't support exporting the new tax year data from Basic tools. We took the decision to remove the HMRC import flow as it doesn't work (and won't work) for the 2021 tax year and future ones.
