Customer Custom Fields

Hi @deangorton,

I believe you're referring to the custom fields for QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced.

This feature is found in this article: Create and edit custom fields in QuickBooks Online Advanced. At this time, this specific version of QBO is exclusive to the USA. An estimated time as to when it will be released to other regions is also unavailable.

I suggest you keep an eye out on this page: The QuickBooks Blog. It lists new features that are out each month, along with its short description.

If you have other questions about the QBO product, let me know in the comments below. I'll be sure to take care of them.

Customer Custom Fields

Hello @Ryan_M ,

Is there nothing you can other in terms of when this feature is becoming available?

The current set-up is rather lacking with us only having access to three custom fields in some sections of QuickBooks. For example i'd like to add a custom ID in our customer record but we currently have no way of doing this.

Customer Custom Fields

Hello MrData,

Thanks for posting on this thread,

So there is no way of being able to add another custom field there is only 3 available in our templates. However you could upload your own custom template where you could have more. You can have a look at this link that tells you more about it here

Can you confirm when this version will go live in the UK and we will be able to use the "Customer Custom Fields" as is currently possible in the USA?

I understand this process wasn't easy for you, @deangorton.

I'd like to share ideas about customising fields in QuickBooks Online.

The option to customise fields is only available in QBO Essentials, Plus, and Advanced. I'll show you first how to turn it on under the Account and Settings page:

  1. Click on the Gear icon. Then, select Account and Settings.
  2. Select the Sales tab and go to Sales form content.
  3. Under Custom fields, turn on the fields you want to customize.

Once done, you can now customise and add logos on your invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks.

You can always leave a comment if you have further questions about QBO and sales forms. Have a great day!

Customer Custom Fields

So having received your email that Quickbooks Desktop is going to be discontinued will there finally be some progress in moving the UK Online version to match the American version with options to add customisable fields for Customers, or is this now the final crunch for Desktop users to look elsewhere for an accounts package that does. I already have the inconvenience of running desktop for the majority of transactions but having to use the online version to process payroll as you discontinued that feature in Desktop. At the point you discontinued that Payroll in 2020 I was told that the American style multi customisable fields were imminent and should be in the next release and it seems 18 months on we are still waiting. Whats the problem it can't be that difficult to activate over here too.

Customer Custom Fields

Hi copycareoffice, thanks for joining this thread and for your support of our desktop product over the years. While the option to create customisable fields for customers is not yet available in QBO UK, we are constantly looking to expand features in our online platform to ensure this meets the needs of all customers, and we'll be sure to pass on your feedback on with our team. If you have any Q's on the discontinuation or transition to Online, please see our article here or get back to us below!

I am sure that the reason many users have stayed with the desktop version is the ability to be able to customise fields. I have used Quickbooks for nearly 20 years. Without this feature I'm afraid I and many other will look to other products.
