Hi - does anyone know how to trigger an export for a new client without having to wait for an overnight update?
Hi Chris1929, thanks for posting on the Community. There's no way to override the automatic updates in QuickBooks Online. If you need any additional support using the Practice Manager, you can view our overview or take a look at our beginners guide.
Thanks - that saves me searching for a way - my ability to update the limited company details has disappeared!
The additional fields no longer appear when I update as limited company - so I cannot update the company house number!
I used to be able to update on the client screen - the type of business - but that is not available either!
Thanks Chris1929, you should be able to edit all fields, including those relating to Companies House, from the Client tab in QuickBooks Practice Manager. If a field was blank during the client set up, toggle Show empty fields to view & edit. If you're still unable to complete this from here, please begin a chat so that we can view this with you.
Thanks - I remembered that the symbol above was for edit client ! - so once I clicked on the symbol I could add the company number and refresh the link to pull through from companies house - thanks for your help
Is there a setting that will show me the tasks to be triggered tomorrow?
Great - you can view upcoming tasks by going to the Work tab > To-do > Set the Due by drop-down to Tomorrow (or by going to Team > Work report > Filter > Due by date). There's currently no way to filter this view to show tasks with automated settings applied (for example, between those which are set to send an automated email and those which are set to manual email). You can, however, edit the task to view this detail.
How do I get to see due by date in the filter? I have client name, task template, label and overdue?
On the to-do page (Take me there) the Due by shows beside the + Add task button (it isn't an option in the filter). From the Team > Work report view, click the filter and Due by date will show on the drop-down beneath Task fields. Hope this helps!
Hi there,
What is synchronised between QBPM and QBOA?
I have added contacts to clients in QBPM, will they be synched across to QBOA and if so, where will they show?
Thanks
Anette
Keeping your client information organized and synchronized between QuickBooks Practice Manager (QBPM) and QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) is essential to your business, Anette. Let me address this and ensure you have all the information you need.
When adding a new client to QBPM, the initial step is to add them to QBOA. Once done, the said client will appear automatically in the team list within QBPM. Please note that contacts created in QBPM don't sync back to QBOA. The synchronization is unidirectional, meaning the client data is exclusively flowing from QBOA to QBPM.
For more details about the synchronization between QBPM and QBOA, refer to this article:
Moreover, I've included this helpful article for step-by-step instructions on utilizing Practice Manager within QuickBooks Online Accountant: Resource Hub.
Please let us know if this goes. We're here to assist you further if you have other concerns about the synchronization of your QBPM and QBOA. Have a good one.
Thanks :)

Today I find that the next tax year end date field has disappeared from my client data. Why has this been taken away? It means that my tasks will not have the date in them and requests for information will also be missing the tax year
I appreciate you for sharing your concern here in the Community page, Jeremy. Know that I am here to support goals in QuickBooks Online. With that, I'd like to ask a few clarification regarding the issue you've encountered.
I would like to know if you are receiving any error messages on your screen. If so, may I ask for a screenshot? Additionally, can you specify which section in QuickBooks Online you are referring to regarding the missing end date field? This way, I can surely provide accurate solution to your query.
Furthermore, you'll want to save this resources that will help you move forward with your VAT payment task within QBO:
Know that we are still here to guide you and achieve you goal in QBO. Feel free to post your response in this thread. I'll wait for your response.
I have just looked at Practice Manager and it initiated an import of my clients.
However, my client list also includes what looks like everyone I have ever invoiced so 56 contacts were imported into Practice Manager instead of 12 !
I have cancelled the import. How can I just import specific contacts into Practice Manager (and why do I have a load of other customers showing in my client list in the first place?)
Hi there, Bat-thing. I understand the importance of synching and generating the correct client data in QuickBooks Practice Manager (QBPM).
The QBPM will automatically import all your clients or team members from QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) and create individual accounts for each one. Currently, the syncing process is continuous and can't be stopped, as the integration between the two platforms streamlines the management of your accounting practice by synchronising client data, invoices, and financial information. We're unable to decide which client you'll want to sync to QBPM.
We recognize that each company has unique needs, and I can see how the feature to decide which clients to import in QBPM would benefit and empower your business. I recommend sending this request straight to our product engineers through feedback. It helps us improve the features of the program. I'll show you how:
