How can I change the default behaviour of reports screens so that it doesn't hide the period etc. boxes? I never want to run a trial balance for this month to date!

I just want this software to actually act like the sensible grown-up package we used to have in desktop and stop trying to shoe-horn me into doing pointless stuff.

Hi there, @dave19.

You got me here to share some insights about how the report period works on the reports in QuickBooks Online.

The This Month-to-date is the default Report period for the Trial Balance report. Know that each report in the system has a different default period. To view the details your desired transactions, you'll need to manually select the date range from the drop-down menu.

To learn more about the different reports that you can pull up in QuickBooks Online and on how to customise them, you may check out these links:

I'm also adding here a guide to help you navigating QuickBooks together with its great features: Get started with QuickBooks Online.

Lastly, I know that each business is unique and has different needs to make run smoothly. I encourage you to visit our QuickBooks Online Blog site to be updated with our road-maps in terms of product improvement.

You can always find me here of you have any other questions or concerns. I'll be here to help. Take care!

I can only assume that whoever decided "month to date" was the most useful option for a TB has never ever prepared any accounts in their life!

Can we please have some software that is designed by someone who actually uses this stuff instead of a load of convoluted but pretty rubbish designed by web addicts?
