I've just migrated to QB's payroll and completed my first payroll using the new system. However, I have done a test FPS submission but don't know how to do an actual submission.
Lodgment status is ticked but the acknowledgement email from HMRC states I still need to do an actual filing.
Update - I've seen the button in HMRC settings that asks if you want to send test submissions - So I have changed that to No but it still thinks that I have submitted an FPS rather than just a test one.
Hello globalregroup,
Are you using the Standard or Advanced payroll?
Thanks,
Talia

Hey globalregroup,
To make the submission after disabling the test mode you will need to unlock the payroll by opening the pay run and going to 'Pay Run Actions' > 'Unlock' and then 'Finalise'. You should now see the option to 'Lodge Pay Run with HMRC'. To see a log of submissions you can go to Reports > RTI Lodgement messages.
Please let us know if this does not resolve the issue :)
OK - makes sense but I get this message as it won't let me unlock it
This pay run cannot be unlocked as pension data has been submitted for this pay run
:(
Hello Globalregroup
Thanks for your reply..Can we just confirm are you using pension sync for your pension on the advanced payroll?
Thanks
Emma
yes
Welcome back, @KMH3,
I can add a bit more information about this topic.
This behavior is normal and your payroll service is working as designed. You're unable to unlock a pay run if the pension is already submitted to Pension Sync.
To go about this, I'd recommend contacting our Support Team for further help. They can help you with the FPS setup and process necessary corrections in QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll. Here's how you can get our contact information:
Please update me on how the call goes. I'll be on a lookout for your reply as I want to make sure you're all set. Have a nice day!
OK - understood - but surely after submitting a test filing surely there should be a way to then to the formal filing, otherwise what's the point of bothering with a test.
You got a point there, globalregroup.
It's best if our phone or chat support can see your setup to check this further. Just follow JenD's steps above to get in touch with them.
If you have other questions, you can always go back to this thread.
A lovely day to you!
Hi, did you get this resolved? I'm having the same problem of not being able to submit live RTI after doing a test. Thank you
It did get resolved. I either tried again by redoing the payroll or getting my accountant to do it. Not sure which way actually worked in the end - sorry to be vague.
