We'll be waiting for your response. Don't hesitate to leave your comment below and we'll surely get back to you.
Do you still offer for QB that does not require a subscription? I have purchased the QB online version but hate it soooo much and I have a current Desktop version as well but it will be expiring soon I was told that the Desktop version will be phased out in the near future.
Hi there, amyvliet69.
QuickBooks is a popular accounting software that operates on a subscription-based model. This means that users must pay a monthly or annual fee to access and use the software. The subscription model provides users with automatic updates, customer support, and access to new features as they become available.
However, with the discontinuation, you can still use the app if you have purchased a non-subscription-based. The non-subscription-based version of QuickBooks is a one-time purchase, and users can continue to use it as long as they like without any additional subscription fees.
You can refer to these articles for more information about the discontinuation of the QBDT UK version:
On the other hand, once your subscription ends in QuickBooks Desktop, you may want to migrate your QBDT to QuickBooks Online. Click on the link to learn how you can move to QuickBooks Online.
I'm also adding these articles that tackle discontinuation and how to move QuickBooks data to another folder on your computer, on and off your network, or to another computer:
I'll address any other concerns you might have regarding the supportability for QuickBooks Desktop versions. I'll help you out. Have a good day, and stay safe.
Where is your company located? UK, US or another country?
It makes me sick that Quickbooks is treating the self-employed who helped build the Quickbooks brand like we do not matter. I have been a desktop user since 1999 and even though I love QB's I will be leaving. I do not want anyone to own my data. And the prices are ridiculous. Such a shame but typical of large corps to treat the people that helped them grow like dirt.
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
2021
You are using QB Desktop 2021 with a non subscription license, correct?
If you don't use any add-ons (e.g QB Payroll, QB Payment), you can keep using 2021 for good.
The potential problem is the bank feed feature after May 2024. You can download *.qbo files from your bank BUT you can't import directly into your QB Desktop. If your bank provides *.csv files, you will need to use a 3rd party tool to import it into QB Desktop. It's a $199 one time license and you can get $100 cashback to purchase the license from a partner.

If you prefer to keep using the bank feed feature with QB Desktop with a non subscription license, you can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA. They can share an option to explore.
Hi,
I wonder if you can share what you chose to do? I am pretty much in the same boat - retired (at least trying to) and only use QB now for my rental properties. I had a 2012 desktop pro that my accountant cannot read so I was asked to upgrade to at least 2020 version. If you bought a non-subscription version, can you please let me know where you bought it? Thanks
So far, I'm limping along with the 2015 version on my laptop. What a PITA!
I did download the 2020 version from Intuit, but never installed or licensed it.
I think I would start with Fiat-Lux, who may have licensing for that version available. I figure he'll charge full boat, but 'what are you going to do' when the publisher is a DH, right?
Fiat Lux won't offer you any license to purchase. You can use the trial version of QB Desktop for good with their workaround.
where can I purchase quickbook desktop 2020 version
Thanks for joining the thread, @Dolphindiva. Let me share the discontinuation policy about QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2020.
The non-subscription-based version of QuickBooks is available for a one-time purchase, allowing users to use it without additional subscription fees for as long as they like. However, after November 08, 2020, access to add-on services will be discontinued for all versions of QBDT 2020. For more detailed information, you can check this article and know the service discontinuation policy: QuickBooks Desktop UK service discontinuation policy.
On the other hand, you may want to migrate your QBDT to QuickBooks Online once your subscription ends in QuickBooks Desktop.
Additionally, you may check this article when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, you may notice differences in how your books appear: Find out how your books will move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
I'm always available to help if you need additional information on QuickBooks Desktop. Just leave a comment, and I'll keep an eye out for it. Have a great day!
Why do you need the old version? You can use the trial version as a workaround.
I don't use bank feeds. I have always entered transactions myself. I do not trust any one except myself in my books. I am old school. When I started bookkeeping they were literal books. QB just makes it easier but when my 2021 eventually dies I will go back to old school books. QB will NEVER get another dime from me. It is shameful what they are doing to the truly small businesses and self employed.
Yeah, when I retire, I'm done.
I've also suffered through using Tax Cut (H&R Block) for years, because, I too, refuse to give Intuit anymore of my hard earned coin.
Are you using QB Desktop US version or UK version?
I'm still using the 2015 DT version in the US. It crashed on my desktop computer because I.E. 'went away' and it doesn't like the workaround with Edge. I installed on my laptop and, for the time being, it does what I need.
U.S. Not sure how I ended up in a UK thread.
Hi there,
I also have an old QB Desktop Pro 2012 license and have been trying to get my bookkeeping done from the ground up. I'm researching whether I can still use my 2012 desktop license for my simple needs. Asides from running reports, the only features I need are the bank feeds (no payroll, or other apps) and having multiple company setup. My question to you - why couldn't your accountant read the 2012 QB Desktop Pro? I imagine if I am just providing numbers to my accountant then that's all they'll need from me and not have to access my QB. I just want to recognize the pitfalls before I really dive into this project. Thank you!
As far as using your 2012 version to maintain your business, go for it. It will work fine until the program becomes corrupt on disk. You'd need to do a reinstall in that case, which can entail some hurdles, but you should be good. As far as sharing with your (tax) accountant, they would accept a backup copy of your file (securely on line or USB drive) and simply convert to whatever version of QBP they are using. It's not always bullet proof.
I recently imported a backup from a 2006 version to my 2015 and it was only functional the first time I opened it. After this, it would become corrupted and I would have to go through the process again. It was annoying, because I have done this in past years and not had any problems. A bother, but I was only extracting some particular information, for which this sufficed.
Cheers,
Does this mean if I am using a Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2012 software, I could connect it to the Quickbooks app?
Note: I have the QB desktop on a Windows 11 computer. If that's a constraint, could I connect to the QB app once I have QB desktop on a Windows 10 computer for instance?
