QB 2019 Enterprise Server Installation

I am looking to install QB 2019 Enterprise on a Windows 2016 Dell server that has a Intel processor with adjustable  frequency. The base is 2.10 GHz and a max. frequency of 3.0 GHz.

I will be running QB Database Server Manager on the server for multiple user access. My questions is, can I run QB 2019 on this server and is there anyone out there that is using QB 2019 on a server with a adjustable frequency processor and are you experiencing any issues.

Your comments and help will be greatly appreciated.

QB 2019 Enterprise Server Installation

I can share some information about QuickBooks Enterprise 2019 requirements, @UOS.

I've checked the system requirement for the 2019 version and confirmed that it's compatible with Windows Server 2016. However, we require at least a 2.4 GHz minimum of processor's frequency. It might work with the 2.10 GHz, but we can't guarantee the best QuickBooks performance.

To learn more about the system requirements, I recommend checking the link.

Complying to them should help you install and run QuickBooks in no time, @UOS. Let me know if you have other concerns or questions for me. I'm here to provide answers.

Thanks for responding Honey Lynn.

The problem I have is prior to installation I call tech. support and asked if a multi-frequency processor as mentioned would work with QB 2109 Enterprise and they said yes.

I am now having issues with muti-user mode not working, only allowing one connection to the database. Had tech. support remote in and still no luck. They even edited the QWW.ini file to "enablenonrecommendedmode=1" with no success.

My concern is if I invest $1,000.00 on another processor for my server that meets the system and that still does not work then what? I guess I don't understand why tech. support said it would work to begin with and why when they remote in having access to system config. they still did not say that the cpu clock speed was not an issue?

QB 2019 Enterprise Server Installation

Hello, UOS.

Allow me to share some additional information regarding using the multi-user mode via QuickBooks Enterprise 2019.

QuickBooks Desktop uses a database file manager to communicate with the company file. The Recommended multi-user set up is having the company file stored on the Host computer. If you're using a server to host your file, one computer still has to act as a Host. You must not turn on hosting for workstations.

I'd like to check the settings for you and get it taken care of myself. However, as much as I would like to get this handled directly, multi-user issues require pulling up your account information, which I am unable to do in this public forum.

I know you've already called in. However, I still suggest getting in touch with our Technical Team for further investigation. A phone agent has the appropriate looks, like screen sharing, and they can take a better look at this.

You can reach them through this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/uk/contact/.

Here are additional references that might be helpful for future use:

You can always get back to me if you have additional multi-user questions. I'm here to help.

There are so many issue with QUICKBOOKS even as I type I am trying to resolve the issues on my own. QB support is so bad they can't fix issues only provide support of how to install the diagnostic or file doctor. As I was told today if it doesn't fix the problem that is all they can do. What the heck is support there for anyhow, to sit there and collect a pay check and tell people the same dialog hour after hour. Every instance of QBE installation is different just like every instance of Windows (what ever version) is different for each install. Will I recommend this program NO absolutely NO. They just make a software easy for a user to install and use, but any issues note the comments " It your computer, Its Windows, Its your processor its to slow. Hmmm anyone try online QB they must have a pretty lag processor because once you get a little data in there things start to slow down.  HANDS DOWN 100% FOR THIS PROGRAM AND THE WASTED MONEY INTO THIS PROGRAM.

I appreciate you joining this conversation, junk4u.

Thanks for taking the time to voice your concerns here. This is certainly not the experience we want you to have.

To make sure that I can provide you with the best resolution, may I know what specific issues or errors you were having? Any additional information will be much appreciated.

Funny you should reply to this comment. Being that the Chat service for QBE is so slow to respond. They told me they are short handed. Based on the fact the software is an inuit product and not a Microsoft product and the issue is by far something 4.6 .net configured.

That being said, since it is recommended for use on Windows server 2016 and built with .net(wont run if it doesn't have it) then some initial Windows product has to be referenced. Not that the product isn't intuit it is a product of microsoft and we don't support other products outside of intuit. Microsoft doesn't know how, why or which one QBE is using, so how are they going to tackle that question. QBE was developed using .net in what ever factors needed to run QUICKBOOKS. If its not then take it out completely and don't use it, use something that you can support. Every installation comes with test done by the makers. In this case QBE with what ever version of Windows. That would be its been tested and running any issue that could occur could reasonably be resolved. I have yet to find one issue I've had be reasonably resolved by QBE support. Most of my problems have been resolved or still trying to be resolved on our own.

4.6 .dot can not be uninstalled from Windows server 2016 the typical define way as specified on these forums. It can be added or removed via server manager, but realize this by removing the role you run the risk of removing PS thus having issues with Server Manager.  No one at support would even hear me out they just said you have to uninstall 4.6.net and reinstall and forwarded me the the instructions.

I get a lot more support on my own by setting up a lab with the same environment as the office and trouble shoot or test by ones self. Calling or chatting with QB support takes up to much time and aggravation with little to no resolution. I am still working problems I discovered back in May 2019.

Accounting remains the same throughout the course of life of a business, the only difference is the updated tax-tables and most important to the general public is the GUI which changes to give it a better feel.

I appreciate you for taking the time to share your feedback, @junk4u.

When installing QuickBooks Desktop, you may run into Microsoft .NET Framework related errors. You can use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool to fix these issues.

To use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool, here's how:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. In the tools hub, select Installation Issues.
  3. Select QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. Let the tool run. It can take up to 20 minutes.
  4. When the tool finishes, restart your computer.

If the error persists, let' repair the 4.6 .net framework. There's no need to uninstall it. Depending on the operating of the server you're using, you can refer to this article for more detailed steps in fixing .NET framework errors: Manually fix Microsoft .NET Framework errors.

Also, you can read through these articles to learn more about fixing installation-related errors:

Thanks for your reply. First off .net isn't something can be un-installed then downloaded and re-installed, it already comes built into windows 2016. Un-installing would mean an issue with Powershell and then an issue with server manager. Thus you would hard pressed to add/remove rolls as server manager will not work.

The diag tool finds error no matter what. I am think because of the way 4.6 .net works on Windows 2016 (not letting install it via a download) the tool comes back in error because it doesn't let the diag tool re-install it. So most likely 4.6 .net is working fine.

I have done my own take on making sure Windows 2016 has no issues with using DISM IMAGE (scan- check-restore) then running SFC.exe to make sure no issues were found. Everything comes back AOK, but the Diag tool keeps having issues with 4.6 .net turning it on.

WHAT KIND OF MESSED UP JOKE IS QUICKBOOKS. YOU TALK TO THE QUICKBOOKS TECHNICAL STAFF(WHICH KNOWS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND LET ME REPEAT THAT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I HAVE COPIES OF MY CHATS THAT SHOWS THIS WHICH DOCUMENTS "ITS BEYOND OF LEVEL OF SUPPORT YOU NEED TO CONTACT THE DEVELOPERS SITE" OR EVEN BETTER "THE ISSUE IS WITH MICROSOFT .NET AND WE HAVE NO SUPPORT FOR IT". EVERYONE HAS AN ANSWER OTHER THAN A RESOLUTION TO A PROBLEM. THE ISSUE IS WITH QUICKBOOKS ENTERPRISE AND THE MANY ISSUE IT HAS AND THE COST OF THE SUBSCRIPTION AND THE LACK OF REAL SUPPORT FOR A PRODUCT THAT HAS THESE MANY ISSUES THAT INTUIT EVEN DEVELOPED FILE DOCTOR, QUICKBOOK DIAG TOOL, PDF/PRINT FIX TO TOP THAT OFF THEY EVEN HAVE A NESTED PROGRAM CONTAINING ALL THESE FUNCTIONS. WILL I GET A RESOLUTION FROM QUICKBOOKS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ANSWER IS N O (NO). HAS SEVERAL VERSION. SORRY WE DON'T SUPPORT .NET YOU HAVE TO CONTACT MICROSOFT OR GET AN A IT PROFESSIONAL. MICROSOFT WILL TELL YOU WE DON'T SUPPORT QUICKBOOK (WHICH IS TRUE THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE HOW QUICKBOOKS WAS DEVELOPED AROUND .NET). AN IT PROFESSIONAL WILL CHECK WINDOWS, BUT AS WELL WOULD NOT HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHY QUICKBOOKS IS FAILING SINCE WINDOWS SERVER IS RUNNING WITHOUT ISSUES AND ALL COMES BACK PERFECT. ERRORS ARE ALWAYS RELATED TO QUICKBOOKS NOTHING MORE. SO UNLESS WE ARE THE PROGRAMMERS OR SOME QUICK SWIFT JOE WHO WOULD LIKE TO BACKWARD ENGINEER THIS PIECE OF JUNK (QB) TO FIX THE PROBLEMS OURSELVES I THINK QUICKBOOKS NEED TO HIRE / PAY THEIR GROUP OF SUPPORT ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE PRODUCT AND HOW IT WOULD BE HANDLED WITH IN EVERY SCENARIO NOT JUST BLUNTLY SAY ITS A WINDOWS THING WE DON'T SUPPORT WINDOWS OR ITS A HARDWARE THING WE DON'T SUPPORT THAT WITHOUT EVEN REALLY KNOWING WHY QB IS CAUSING THOSE ISSUES BECAUSE EVERYTHING ELSE IS RUNNING AND VERIFIED TO HAVE NO ISSUES JUST QB.

I WAS TOLD IN CHAT THAT THEY ARE TAKING LONGER TO RESPOND BECAUSE THEY ARE UNDERSTAFFED. THAT WOULD BAFFLE ME CONSIDERING HOW MUCH THEY CHARGE FOR THEIR SUBSCRIPTIONS THEY SHOULD BE STAFF REASONABLY WITHOUT 5 TO 10 WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO ENTER A CHAT.

THE FALSE STATEMENT ON THE SUPPORT PAGE FOR CHATTING WITH QB IS A JOKE.

"Exclusive access to our U.S.-based team of product experts1 comes with your Enterprise subscription - free. This unique team can help you use QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise more effectively with your business and tailor it to your needs."  ONE YOU CAN'T CALL THEM UNIQUE WHEN THEIR RESPONSE IS BASICALLY DIALOGUE FROM FLASH CARDS. TWO HAVE NOT HELP USE THE PRODUCT EFFECTIVELY ONLY CREATED INSTANCES OF WORKAROUND BECAUSE SUPPORT CAN'T ANSWER WHY SOME OF THESE ISSUES ARE OCCURRING.

I'M GUESSING YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE HOW WINDOWS 2016 WORKS. I THINK IF INTUIT TERMS OF REQUIREMENTS STATE SOMETHING EVERY SUPPORT GROUP UNDER QBE SHOULD BE TRAINED TO HANDLE ISSUES RELATED TO THE OPERATION OF THE APPLICATION.

FOR INSTANCE IF INTUIT DEVELOPS QBE TO RUN AND CERTIFIES USE WITH VARIOUS WINDOWS THEN EVERY OPTION OF SUPPORT FOR FAILURE SHOULD BE EXAMINED. BECAUSE IF YOU TAKE OUT THE ERROR COMPLETELY BECAUSE IT CAUSES A PROBLEM AND QBE DOES NOT SUPPORT THAT PART OF THE ERROR THEN MY GUESS IS QBE WON'T WORK AT ALL. PROBLEM SOLVED FOR MS HOW ABOUT QBE?

Hello, @junk4u.

I understand you're having repeated issues with installing QuickBooks Enterprise 2019 server. This is not how Intuit handles our customer’s concerns. With that being said, let me address your concern to the best that I can do.

First, when installing a program, the device you're using should match the system requirements. This is to ensure that it will work seamlessly. Also, there are features in QuickBooks that use Microsoft programs to run the web-based apps on it. One of which is the Microsoft .NET Framework, a vital component in QuickBooks. If this is damaged, the program may not work properly.

Meanwhile, the troubleshooting that our technical support performs and the Diagnostic tool that we use can “diagnose & repair" any issues related to QuickBooks Company file open failure. If the issue persists, we can try to repair QuickBooks.

     1. On your keyboard, press Windows+R to open the Run command.

     2. Type Control Panel, then select OK.

     3. Select Programs and Features.

    4. QuickBooks version you are installing is present.

          a.  If it is on the list, let's open the program.

               i. Go to the Start menu.

               ii. Select All Programs.

               iii. Choose QuickBooks.

iv. Select the QuickBooks version you want to open.

         b. If the program can't be open, let's repair QuickBooks.

              i. Repair QuickBooks.

                  1. Click Start.

                  2. Select Control Panel.

                  3. Go to Programs and Features.

                  4. Choose QuickBooks.

                         a. Click Uninstall/Change.

                         b. Choose Continue, then Next.

                         c. Select Repair, then click Next.

ii. Once completed, ensure to download the latest QuickBooks release when opening the program.

On the other hand, if there are steps that may affect how your device is configured, that's the time we suggest for you to contact an IT professional or Microsoft. They have the complete tools to look into how Microsoft is specifically configured on your computer.  Also, they can ensure that while looking into the error, the security firewall in your device remains intact.

Feel free to leave your post here if you have other questions. The Community and I are always here to help.

Junk4u,

Couldn't agree with you more on this thread! You've hit the nail on the head with the ignorance and terrible quality and service of QuickBooks Enterprise QBE (INTUIT)! I wear a lot of hats for our small company and IT is one of them. We've been using QB Enterprise for over 7 years and about three years ago we decided to host the QB file ourselves on a local server as opposed to using Right Networks which had many limitations. I have five users that access QB via multi-user mode everyday of the week and in the past year, we've had nothing but issues. It seems like I'm consonantly (daily) troubleshooting error codes, resetting the server, re-mapping the QB file on desktops, and constantly telling our employees and customers that QB is down! In the past, I would reach out to customer support and the representatives were very knowledgeable, but that ship has left! I specifically reached out to my "Customer Success Manager" yesterday to voice my concerns about the constant problems we've had with QB and while she listened to my concerns, told me that she would personally connect me with a "High Value Support" agent to assist me with my concerns/problems. Well, I was connected and it took 45 minutes for the rep to do ABSOLUTELY nothing! I even had to explain to the rep how some things worked in QB and WS 16. I asked to be elevated to higher tier and they told me that I was talking to the only support they could provide. I was like, you have to be kidding me!  It's clear that Intuit has lost it's way with customers support and they make not attempt to train their "High Value Support" agents to actually assist and help customers. I have to go into the office today (Saturday), leave my family on my only day off, so I can put a band-aid on our expensive QBE platform all while knowing that I can't even use the QB "High Value Support" service to help me troubleshoot.

At the moment, we have no other option in terms of platforms as the features we need are not included in other variants of QB or with other providers. We are constantly looking for a different providers and when we find an alternative solution, we will leave Intuit and tell others to do the same! My boss already told me that if the problems remain after 1.1.20, we will be leaving Intuit altogether.

junk4u, thanks for voicing your concerns. It's evident that there is a degradation of performance and quality of service occurring within the house of Intuit! This is the first time I've ever posted anything on the QB community platform and hoping it will be my last!

E1 Ga11o, Thanks for the Kudos... I've been working with QuickbooksEnterprise for only 5yrs at this level. I'm always up to my neck with issues with this program. Yeah support use to be a little better, but they never did resolve anything for us. Issue were always resolved with my constant and persistent need to resolve issues. I have setup another server just to trouble shoot errors that magically appear. Once in a while if your'e persistent with contacting QBE support you'll get someone whom actually knows something. Trouble is it could take days and sometime weeks which most of us don't have or don't want to waste time with. I was lucky about 4 years ago while working with QBE2015 and continually calling QBE support to get a supervisor after getting colorful with the agent. The supervisor was genuinely honest about getting me the support I needed and saw my issue with the program wasn't the ordinary issue so he asked one of the programmers (I am assuming) to help. When I spoke with the guy he seem to know what I was talking about, but offered very little in actually looking for solution but gave me some hints. I ended up using other various tool to take down the issue with QBE and found out there was a program they added on 2015 that needed to call home. Only issue was security, the office did not allow the network to be exposed on the internet. I got a return call from the QB programmer and asked me if I was successful and I told him what I had found and he told me yeah there is a hidden app that calls home to verify license about every 10days and one one server or computer needed to verify then it would share that verification through the network. And he was so baffled at how I got that info thinking I was just a typical user he was kind of shock to talk to someone whom traced out the program. Today its a little different, You can't really get past a floor manager to speak to anyone and the program we use now 2018 verifies license every chance it get specifically when you load the program and requires each and every computer with the app to verify license directly. I created work around with 2015, but with 2018 I had to change the setup.

We are currently working with out to many issues, but yes there are issues I find (no one ever tell you about) that I resolve before it gets worse.

The biggest and most critical problem we have each year is the end of year. The database get way to large (inventory is used) that the software starts to drastically slow down. That said, there's no real way to reduce the database at the end of the year without starting a new company and entering begrudging balances. I had never seen that before coming from Peachtree accounting  premium 2008 which after 2 yrs you could purge anything prior to those 2 years.

Peachtree is another animal which SAGE now, but I hear the same stories about that software. Truthfully if you just doing accounting (no payroll etc) There isn't much of a need to upgrade, they just force you to upgrade to keep the bank rolling.

Well I think I said enough for this week, but honestly if you want or need any help you can email me using the my username and adding @hotmail.com I am interested in knowing what software you have interested in and seeing how it would work out for you.

Thanks and KUDOS to you
