The Indigenous people of Australia are the oldest, continuous living culture on earth, and National NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate and recognise the history and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
During NAIDOC we unveiled a bespoke indigenous artwork by proud Gamilaroi-Ularoi woman and artist, Lakkari Pitt, who we worked with to bring Intuit’s values, people and customers to life in the piece.
We interviewed Lakkari when she revealed the artwork to us at our Sydney office. Lakkari not only gave us insight into her identity and culture, but also described her process and artwork in detail.
Lakarri describes her art as the movement, essence and stories of country.
“When I'm talking about movement, I’m referring to when the wind leaves beautiful patterns on the sand or when the trees are flowing and you see the shades on country – and the stories that my elders and significant people in my life have passed down through generations. The essence is the spiritual aspect of how country makes me feel and the inspiration I get from the colour palette”, she said.
