The practice and the vision
The strategic switch to QuickBooks
QuickPro Solutions had a long history with desktop accounting software, initially using Reckon for 5-10 years, then transitioning to QuickBooks Desktop for another 6-7 years. While these softwares served their purpose, the limitations of offline, desktop-based systems became increasingly apparent with time. Limited access for the team and difficulties with third-party software integration were persistent challenges.
A pivotal moment that solidified the need for change was a ransomware attack on their office server. This security breach highlighted the vulnerability of keeping critical company data solely on-premise and spurred QuickPro's decisive move to QuickBooks Online, recognising its enhanced security features, comparable to bank-level protection.

We decided to actually move to cloud, which will have a better security... because as we all know, QuickBooks Online has the same security level as a bank.
Why Adellene chose QuickBooks
Seamless client onboarding
Migrating to a new accounting system, especially from desktop to cloud, can be a complex undertaking. Adellene acknowledges the initial tediousness of importing and migrating all data from their desktop version to QuickBooks Online Accountant. However, the long-term benefits far outweighed these challenges. QuickPro Solutions successfully transitioned a wide range of clients, from small to medium-sized businesses to large enterprises, including a holding company with over 60 branches. They also assist clients moving from traditional methods like Microsoft Excel or other local software such as AutoCount and SQL to QuickBooks Online.
While some clients initially expressed concerns about data security or the yearly subscription cost of cloud solutions, Adellene emphasises the bank-level security of QuickBooks Online and its overall flexibility.
After transitioning to QuickBooks Online, we are actually very happy with the result because everyone no longer needs to worry about the security ransomware issue. It's more flexible overall. It's a very good experience.
The QuickBooks impact and tangible benefits
Since making the switch, Adellene and her team have experienced significant improvements in their workflow and operational efficiency. The ability to access QuickBooks Online from anywhere with an internet connection, including via mobile apps, has provided unparalleled flexibility and peace of mind, eliminating worries about security breaches like ransomware.
Key features that have profoundly impacted their daily operations include:
- Recurring transactions: This feature has been instrumental in automating renewal notices for software support and other services, reducing manual errors, and ensuring timely communication with clients.
- Real-time bank synchronisation: Connecting with banks allows for real-time data synchronisation, greatly simplifying and speeding up bank reconciliations while minimising errors.

Future-proofing the practice
Adellene foresees a transformative future for the accounting profession, largely driven by technological advancements in AI. She believes that it will lead to "less work for the accountant," enabling them to "work smarter than before" by automating up to 90% of data entry. This shift, she suggests, will elevate the accountant's role from a data entry specialist to a "trusted advisor" who interprets financial reports and provides strategic guidance to businesses.
Her advice to other accountants struggling with traditional software is to carefully analyse their clients' specific needs and industry requirements before recommending a solution. The goal, she stresses, is to find the most suitable software to prevent future, disruptive transitions. Adellene is particularly excited about QuickBooks' upcoming AI technology, which she anticipates will be launched in Malaysia soon, further enhancing the capabilities of accounting professionals.
