Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community, Abbotrack. I appreciate you for taking steps to resolve the performance issue with QuickBooks Online. I can also see how important it is to run the program seamlessly. I've got another suggestion to make sure QuickBooks Online functions smoothly.
Please know that the QBO's waiting time is 10 seconds and we constantly monitor our systems to ensure we are meeting this goal. However, it's essential to consider that since this program is web-based, it also relies on your computer or device’s processing power. The amount of available memory (RAM) and the bandwidth of your Internet connection to perform as intended.
To speed up its performance, ensure to consider the following below:
To know more about how these factors affect QBO's performance, check out this article: Why is my QuickBooks Online slow?.
If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They can access your account in a safe environment and investigate why QuickBooks keeps running very slowly while doing transactions on the program. If you're still unable to connect with our chat or phone support via the Help icon, you can use this link to reach out to them.
Lastly, you can read this article if you need different guidelines on how you can effectively manage your business using QBO: Help guide for QuickBooks Online.
I'm all ears if you still need assistance in leveling up QuickBooks Online's performance. Just leave a comment below and I'll get back to you, Abbotrack. Stay safe.
Had a feeling this would be copied and pasted here as a response from what’s already on here.
non of this advice applies to my issues, thanks.
need a proper answer and solution to my problem please.
Same here. Losing the will to live. Been on an hour with a 10 minute task.
also my issues aren’t any of the copy and pasted response you got either because everything else works fine. It’s just quickbooks.
sorry I couldn’t help but you’re not alone :face_with_tears_of_joy:
Hello Abbotrack and Sarahg1984, thanks for posting on the Community
It isn't great to see that you've been experiencing latency when using QuickBooks Online. We expect the most-used pages to load within 10 seconds, and performance can vary depending on the volume of data (e.g. a new account will run faster than one with thousands of transactions and stock items).
Please first check that your device meets our system requirements and that you're using a supported browser (see below). In general, QuickBooks supports the current and two previous versions of browsers.
- Google Chrome: Version 78 or newer. Intuit recommends Chrome to get the best experience possible.
- Mozilla Firefox: Version 76 or newer. Note: To preview and print forms on Mac OS, you'll also need the Firefox PDF plugin.
- Microsoft Edge: version 75 or newer
- Safari: version 12 or newer (Mac only)
After this, view our tips to improve performance. We don't recommend using an incognito web browser to access QuickBooks, or clearing the cache and cookies on your browser too regularly, as this can increase the time it takes QuickBooks to load.
If you're still experiencing issues from here, get back to us below.
Hi Sarahg,
I'm glad your supporting me on this, the more the better.
I'v just received another fob off response from them which i'm about to reply too.
The more people that report this issue the better as this will help escalate this.
HI,
Again thanks for the response but its not a good enough answer.
Nothing wrong at my end in terms of requirements etc!
having saying that a new account will reun quicker than an old account that has thousands of transactions is a terrible response!
You should expects 100's, 1000's and 100,000's of customers with lots of transactions in there online accounts as you are selling this product to everyone all over the UK and maybe further so to say something like that as an answer is ridiculous!
what your basically saying is you as a seller of this product cant support it properly to all your end users (customers) as you don't have the infrastructure in place on your servers to meet your customers demands in using your product!
Or your not willing to invest in meeting the demands of your customers having thousands of transactions in there online accounts?
So which is it?
I suggest you escalate this and get this sorted ASAP as your after care is poor, response time is even worse and your answers if they are true means you should not be selling this product to anyone as it only works for new customers with a couple of transactions!?!
I would like this escalating as soon as and get this sorted or change the name from quickbooks to slowbooks for people with 1 to 2 customers and a couple of transactions!?!
I'm sorry but i'm fed up with this software always having issues and not getting the proper support that we all deserve as paying customers!
I've been experiencing the same issues all week too. Tried various browsers and desktops but the issue is clearly with the software itself.
I note there have been various new features on the site which seem to correspond to this lag. It has just taken me 15 minutes to send a simple invoice - not good enough at all.
I've had all the same issues for about 2 weeks now, it's driving me nuts.
I appreciate you bringing the slow performance of QuickBooks to our attention, @Djc23271. I understand how this can impact your work. I'll share with you a few troubleshooting steps in order to make everything run smoothly.
QuickBooks Online operates as a web-based service, utilizing the processing power of your computer or device, available memory (RAM), and the speed of your Internet connection to function properly.
I recommend checking that your system meets the basic requirements to help narrow down the reason for slow performance. A shortfall in any area can reduce performance.
If you're using the recommended system and are still experiencing issues, it would be advisable to reach out to our QuickBooks Support Team. This will allow for further investigation if necessary to help resolve the issues you're facing.
Here's how you can reach them:
There are a few things to check to ensure you get the most out of your QuickBooks Online experience. I've attached these articles for additional reference about it:
I'm available to help with any specific inquiries you may have about navigating QuickBooks Online or resolving issues related to slow performance. Don't hesitate to reach out if you require further assistance. Take care and feel free to get in touch whenever you need support.
Thanks AbegailS_
My computer, system, wifi etc are all fine, I have no issues running other cloud based softwares, like the guy who started this thread said, its a problem within QBs and seems to be the accepted norm, which in my opinion simply isn't good enough.
I can't be efficient in my work when I'm spending most my day watching the green loading dots spin, blaming larger accounts is a cop out and the issue needs addressed properly.
I'll contact support to have a look in my account on Monday,
Well said Sarahg1984, don’t be fobbed off we need a solution to this :thumbs_up::thumbs_up:.
Thanks for participating with your issues too Djc,
please keep up with us on this as this needs resolving and the more people that speak up the better!
iv had no proper response to this yet and as far as I see neither has anyone else.
QB get this resolved ASAP the support is extremely poor along with the advice !
instead of asking people too clock support to deal with this privately why don’t you sort this yourselves now!
then tell everyone you’ve took this seriously and escalated this to get this resolved!
honestly!
Glad this isn't just me...thought it was either of our laptops &/or office PC....even tried it on a client's PC when on-site.
Starts off OK but 5 mins in all goes south! Takes literally 2 mins to load a screen up, 30 seconds to tab between data entry boxes. An hour to do something that should take 10 mins!
Checked setting, deleted cache & cookies & nothing different...been like it for about 2 weeks!
:(
Hello, @RabbieBurns78. We greatly appreciate your continued participation in the Community space. We want to assure you that we do not intend for you to experience runtime problems that can disrupt your business activities with QuickBooks. Our goal is to help you resolve your concern promptly.
We understand the importance of ensuring that QuickBooks Online (QBO) runs smoothly. We will provide you with some troubleshooting steps to help improve its performance.
Intuit anticipates that the most frequently accessed pages in QuickBooks Online will load within 10 seconds, and we continually monitor our systems to ensure that we meet this goal. However, it's essential to consider that because this program is web-based, it also depends on your computer or device's processing power, available memory (RAM), and the bandwidth of your Internet connection to function as intended.
The following actions will improve its performance.
To learn more about how these factors affect QBO's performance, check out this article: Why is my QuickBooks Online slow?
I'm all ears if you still need assistance or encounter similar issues with QuickBooks performance. Just leave a comment below, and I'll get back to you, @RabbieBurns78. Have a great day!
At this point I am starting to see that you guys are either not reading what is being said or you are clueless.
To point this out for another time, the problem is not from our end, this means that:
RAM is great
Operating System is fully up to date
Internet connectivity is great based on speed tests
Our browsers are up to date
The issue is clearly from your end, and with the poor support over the years from Quickbooks I am starting to think that we Accountants need to start directing our clients to other platforms.
When will this be fixed?
Hello there, @Tvez.
It isn't the experience we'd want you to have when using QuickBooks Online (QBO). In this situation, it would be best to contact our Customer Care Team so they can assign a representative to check on your end and conduct further investigation to determine the root cause of the issue. We'll input the steps to get you going:
You can visit this page for more details: QuickBooks Online Support.

@Tvez, feel free to let us know about how it goes. The Community team is determined to help you and every customer who's experiencing this issue. Stay safe.
I’ve been having the exact same
issue for the past 2 weeks as well! All my other sites/apps on my laptop are working perfectly fine except for quickbooks and the solutions that were provided were no help!
I understand how you want QuickBooks Online (QBO) to work the way it used to. Let me guide you on what to do so it fixes the issue, Rishi.
Slow performance occurs due to various reasons. This includes outdated plugins, excessive use of system resources, or slow internet speed. To have optimal performance, you'll have to make sure that you're using the recommended operating systems your computer has.
Aside from that, Intuit recommends Google Chrome as the default browser for QBO. Other web browsers like Firefox, Safari, and Opera have similar capabilities but may look different while performing the function. QuickBooks supports the current and two previous versions of the browser and doesn't support older versions. Internet Explorer is no longer a supported browser. I've provided a list below of the supported browsers:
To give your more details about the system requirements, read this article for reference: System Requirements For QuickBooks Online, Accountant, Payroll, And QuickBooks Self-Employed.
Furthermore, you may also be experiencing pages that aren't fully loading. Learn how to based on the different three scenarios provided. I've added this article for reference: QuickBooks Online Doesn't Load Correctly Or Has Blank Pages.
Post below if you have further concerns about how QBO works. I'm always right here to help you anytime.
Experiencing the same problem unfortunately. Entering a budget and it is excruciatingly slow just tabbing over from one month to the next.
I wish you didn't experience such challenge entering a budget in QuickBooks Online, @pccreceipts. Let me route you to the best support available to ensure you'll get the assistance you need.
If you haven't already, I recommend following the steps provided by my colleague, MariaSoledadG, above to isolate the issue. If the problem persists, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support team for further assistance. Here's how:
Make sure to check their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.
Moreover, you'll want to run special profit and loss budget reports that help you keep track of your budget goals in QuickBooks Online. Check out this article for the process: Run budget reports.

Same here.
Just trying to enter details onto an invoice, you type into a dialog box and the words take 10 seconds or more to appear. It took 15 minutes to complete 1 simple invoice yesterday. No problems with internet speed or using any other web based application, only "Quick" Books.
Yep, my issues haven't resolved. Typed a customer name to set up a new one about 10-30 seconds ago, it still hasnt shown up in the box. Clearly a QBs issue that they're in denial about
Hello Sarahg1984, we are aware of the issue of quickbooks running slow and we have created a case and added you to the inv any updates you will get an email to let you know.
Ah, so are you now admitting that you QB do have an issue then?
quick to respond to everyone else on here but it was me who started this thread so are you going to sort my online account as well as everyone else on here???
iv found the problem to be using chrome at my end as other browsers seem ok.
however you state to use chrome?!?
think you need to find out why your platform online doesn’t support with chrome very well and come back to us all with the answer that you QB have now sorted this out.
