We are committed to continuing to provide firms with QuickBooks clients all of the functionality you enjoyed with QuickBooks Online Accountant, plus new capabilities to drive efficiency at no additional cost with our Core tier.
This platform has so many advantages and benefits, but the largest initial benefit is the ability to see and action on all your clients’ QuickBooks data in one place. The use of Intuit AI enables meaningful efficiency gains and the ability to detect and ask questions to diagnose anomalies found in the data faster than before.
The free beta program for Accelerate and Books Close officially ends on July 31, 2026.
Billing is not automatic, and you must take action to continue using these features:
- To stay on your current plan: Provide your consent to remain on the Accelerate plan and/or Books Close add-on. Your first charge will appear on your firm’s next regular billing date on August 1, 2026.
- If you take no action: You will not be charged. However, after July 31, your firm will be moved to the Core plan and the Books Close add-on will be removed from your suite.
QuickBooks Online Accountant will be officially discontinued on December 31, 2026, as we transition all firms to the modern Intuit Accountant Suite platform. Similar to QuickBooks Online Accountant, the Core version of Intuit Accountant Suite has no monthly recurring fee and remains free for your firm to use.
Yes, you will have the option to go back to QuickBooks Online Accountant at this time. Note, if you have transferred clients to a target account, those will continue to be centralized in a target QuickBooks Online Accountant account. We strongly encourage you to return to the Intuit Accountant Suite when your team is ready so you can benefit from the newest innovations.
No. All current features and capabilities within QuickBooks Online Accountant are included in the Intuit Accountant Suite plus more. We also will provide tools to help your team navigate some changes in terms of where you will be able to access certain capabilities that are now in new locations.
You can use the resource section to start to train your team on the new platform. We encourage you to use the in-product tours, attend our ProAdvisor Webinars, and look out for additional training.
First, your primary admin will switch your target QuickBooks Online Accountant to Intuit Accountant suite. Next, your primary and company admin can transfer clients to a target account using our updated client transfer tool in Intuit Accountant Suite. Simply navigate to the settings gear and select transfer clients. We will provide resources to guide your firm through the required preparation and then provide a tool to move clients from your other QuickBooks Accounts to your target account.
The primary admin can sign up for a new Intuit Accountant Suite account on this website or the primary admin can switch over QuickBooks Online Accountant in billing and subscription.
Your team will continue to have the same role based access and controls to your firm and clients as they previously did in QuickBooks Online Accountant. User Groups enable bulk assignment capabilities and updated role-based permission options to help your firm scale with confidence.
Intuit Intelligence chat is available in Beta to primary and company admins. In Intuit Accountant Suite Core, you can ask up to 200 prompts/month about your firm or client’s books- all without switching into the client’s books. With Intuit Accountant Suite Accelerate, you can ask up to 1,000 prompts/ month. Coming soon, Accelerate will also allow for cross-client portfolio questions to compare insights across your entire practice. When working directly within a client’s books, questions count toward their monthly total (Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced- each have 25 prompts/ month), with the option to purchase additional queries if their limit is reached.
Books Close is available at no additional cost throughout the beta program. You will be billed $6 per onboarded client per month for up to 20 clients or $4 per onboarded client per month for over 20 clients, starting on August 1, 2026. We will notify you in advance and give you the option to continue to use the product for this fee or to cancel. You can opt-out at any time.
If you cancel Books Close subscription, your project and task data will be retained and viewable for 7 years.
After you subscribe to Books Close, we recommend that you open the Settings page to customize templates, preparer/reviewer/approver roles, as well as statuses. This process is recommended before onboarding clients to Books close and set up off their first close but is completely optional. We will have default options for all of these so you can also quickly onboard using those. Once this is set up, you are ready to onboard clients to Books Close and set up the first close for each client.
