Hi,
I've connected my HSBC business credit card to quickbooks, but i can't get the transactions, just the statement value and fact that I've paid it, see screenshot. How do I get the individual transactions, just can't work it out or you can't which makes it hard work!
Paul
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi Paul
Thanks for contacting the Community. Looking at the screenshots It will usually perform the way it is if both the sub and parent credit card are not connected in the Quickbooks once you do this it will pull through the individual transactions
Any further questions let us know
Kind regards
Emma

Will it pull through each transaction separately in a date order or will it pull as monthly credit card statement with all the transactions listed in a date order or by users?
Mal
Hi Mal
Yes it will pull through each transaction separately and in date order. However yo will have to, as in my previous message, have the sub accounts set up in the chart of accounts
Regards
Emma
Hi Mal,
Just to clarify, would you like to include an entire month from your statement, i.e. February 2019, in one bill and have each line on the bill to a separate expense category? If so, yes you can do this. Let us know, and we can go through how you would do this with you.
Thank you,
Emma
Hi Mal
Okay I see what you are asking in one transaction if you are adding it yourself via new transaction expense or bill you have to stipulate a bank account or credit card paid from for the whole transaction. So if you were adding them manually you would have to group them by sub account and add one sub accounts transactions in one bill and one sub accounts in another.
Kind regards
Emma
I have just been told by HSBC that it is not possible to set up an automated feed of an HSBC UK Business Debit Card to QB because of an incompatible "security" setting she couldn't explain further
Is this true?
It is certainly true that when I try to add the card using the HSBC feed page, it says I already have an HSBC account synced, so it won't let me go any further, despite the fact I haven't added the card.
Hi there, @saul2,
I'll provide some verification about setting up an automated feed for your HSBC UK Business Debit Card account.
HSBC business account is one of the supported bank account types for direct feeds in QuickBooks Online (QBO). For more information, please go through this helpful article: QuickBooks HSBC Direct Feeds Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
Since you've already confirmed from HSBC that the Business Debit Card account type isn't eligible to an automated feed, I'd suggest using the Standard feed feature by performing the steps below.
I've checked here on my end if there's an ongoing investigation about the error you're getting when adding your card. Yes, there's currently one and it's still open. Our Banking Engineering Team is actively working to fix this issue as soon as possible.
As a an alternative, you can also connect it via the Standard feed option. Here's how:
For more information, you can check out this helpful article: Using Standard Feeds Banking Connection.
If you need bank transactions more than 90 days, you can import them from CSV to QuickBooks.
In the meantime, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks Online Customer Support Team. This way, they can add your account to the list of affected companies. They'll also be able to notify you about the issue's status via email.
The steps and resources above will help get you in the right direction, @saul2.
If you have other online banking concerns, don't hesitate to click the Reply button below. I'll be around to help.
Thank you for your reply.
1) HSBC themselves told me that they cannot export credit cards to QB through a feed. Please therefore check your information and confirm if you think they can
2) HSBC do not support standard feeds
3) I do not want to have to faff around importing bank data by CSV as that negates the whole point of direct feeds. Please provide another solution for importing more than 90 days of data.
Hello Saul2
HSBC do not ye have direct feed for credit cards yes that is correct, in your original post you stipulated debit card.
Open banking is coming to QuickBooks very soon and most banks will be connected via a direct feed going forward more information can be found here
CSV is the only option for the import of more than 90 days because we are a third party we can not request historical data from your bank for longer than the time period agreed by that bank
Thanks
Emma
Thank you for your reply.
Is the inability to link HSBC credit cards due to an HSBC failure or QB's failure?
Hello Saul2
The information just does not pull across correctly in a statement form which would be workable. We are hoping that the new open banking which comes in in the next few months will negate this issue as it is not linked to any online log in information.
Regards
Emma
Hello.
That doesn't answer my question.
At whose end is the error? QB or HSBC?
"A few months" is vague and unacceptable.
I want to make sure your online banking issue will be taken care of, @saul2.
I'm not able to tell where the error is coming from. Rest assured, we are partnering with HSBC to dig deeper into finding the root cause of this issue.
We want the bank enrollment process to be convenient and time-efficient for you since you have transactions for more than 90 days. Please know that I'm listening to you and your experience in QuickBooks.
If you haven't contacted us yet to have your company to the list of affected users, I'd suggest you to do so. You can get our most up-to-date contact information on the QuickBooks Online section through this link: Contact QuickBooks.
We thank you for your patience. I'll let you know as soon as I receive any updates, @saul2. Take care always.
1) When will you resolve the HSBC card issue? Your statement is vague and meaningless so far.
2) Is the inability to download more than 90 days of bank statements a QB stipulation or an HSBC stipulation?
Thanks.
HSBC have just told me that the error on linking chargecards is 100% at your end, not theirs.
1) is this correct
2) when will it be solved?
Hello Paul,
I would like to take a further look into this issue for you however we are unable to collect the relavent information needed to do this on the Community, could I please ask for you to contact QuickBooksUK on either Facebook or Twitter through a private message or DM so we can take your e-mail address and investigate this for you further.
I'm having trouble with Barclaycard Credit Card too. Is there a problem linking with them also?
Can you give a Credit Card company who can link correctly with QB?
Hello,
Are you getting an error message?
Thanks,
Talia
Thanks for responding Talial, I've got to leave now, back again on Wednesday so I would prefer to pick this up again then if thats okey.
Of course, get back in touch then and we will look into it further.
Thanks,
Talia
Both HSBC and QB say it cannot be done, because QB haven't created the necessary protocol. It's not a widely publicised error, but it's another very annoying lack of functionality I have just discovered with QB since starting using it a few weeks ago.
