Shipping not required on my invoices but some not all invoices already have the boxes on screen even though it is unchecked for the customer, how do I remove shipping?

This appears to be a (new) bug.

It's been happening on & off for the last few weeks.

(Coincidentally, the Message Box Size bug seems to have been cured about the same time)

I have Shipping switched OFF in Accounts & Settings > Sales > Sales Form Content.

I have Shipping unchecked in Custom Form Styles > Content > Header.

I have Shipping unchecked in Invoice Edit > COG > Choose What You Can Use.

Yet, sometimes, the Shipping Fields appear.

As far as I can tell the behaviour is random.  It happens on different PCs using different browsers - both before & after a cache clearout as well as incognito/private browsing modes.

The shipping fields can appear when viewing an old invoice on screen (in edit mode, I use a docx template so the fields won't carry through to the print/pdf invoice).

The shipping fields can appear when creating a new invoice (from scratch or from recurring template).

(*edit - happens most often when viewing a previously saved invoice ... maybe 50% of the time)

To remove, go to COG > Choose What You Can Use

You will most likely see that the Shipping checkbox is unchecked or has a grey tick.

Enable Shipping - you get a green tick.

Then disable again.

Hello there, @info824.

You can edit the invoice template and remove the shipping information. Let me guide you how.

  1.  Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Custom Form Styles.
  3. Locate your invoice template and click Edit.
  4. Choose the Content tab and select the Header section.
  5. Uncheck Shipping under the Display section.
  6. Hit Done.

For more detailed steps about customizing invoices, you can check out this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Also, you can import your own from styles in your QBO account. Feel free to check this article for the detailed steps: Import custom form styles for invoices or estimates.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comment section down below. I'll be always around ready to help.

I've had this issue since April 2022. We do not ship and shipping has NEVER been turned on, however, the shipping fields will just add themselves. You then have to turn them on so you can turn them off. But later on a new or even same invoice they will reappear again. Has caused a nightmare when doing sales tax. Spent almost an hour on the phone with QBO, cleared out cache (which is always QBO "remedy"), but problem continues to exist.

Hello, dedmonds.

I appreciate your efforts and time to fix the issue with our support. This isn't the kind of experience we want you to have when dealing with sales tax and the fields on the transaction form.

I'd like to point us in the right direction so we can get the shipping fields fixed as soon as possible. We would want to have this investigated thoroughly.

In this case, we can give our phone support another shot in fixing this issue. Use the same phone number you've called before. If you don't have it handy anymore, we can follow these steps to reach one of our agents:

  1. Click the Help icon.
  2. Go to the Search tab, then click the Contact Us button.
  3. In the text box, enter something like "Odd behaviors with the shipping fields."
  4. Click Continue, then click the Chat button.

If you still have your case number from your previous call with us, we can provide it to the next agent. They'll read through the notes and proceed to the next step (without starting all over again).

Let's also take note of paul72's pointers in fixing the problem (if you haven't done it yet).

After fixing the shipping fields with our support, do you need help filing your VAT returns? Let's take a look at this article for a guide: File your VAT return and record tax payment in QuickBooks Online.

You can always visit this thread if you have more questions about your sales taxes or VAT. If you have concerns about recording an entry, running reports, or managing your data, let me know and I'll help you out.

Hello there, @laughable accountant. I'm here to provide additional troubleshooting steps to ensure the Shipping field will not show on your invoice.

To begin, make sure that the Shipping box in the Custom form styles page is unchecked. Once done, attempt to create an invoice and choose the correct template so the changes made will reflect on the form.

If you still encounter the same thing, I recommend clicking the Gear icon in the form and ensuring that the Shipping box is disabled.

If the same thing happens, I suggest clearing the cache of your regular browser to eliminate the stored cache. This is a component of the browser that helps speed up the loading process when accessing websites but sometimes gets damaged which results in odd behaviour. That said, doing the process will help us determine if this is a cache-related issue. On the other hand, you can use another supported browser or device. Might be that the current one you're using has a temporary issue with the program.

Please let me know the steps goes. I'd love to hear any updates about this. If you have further concerns about managing invoices in QuickBooks, feel free to leave a reply below. I'm always ready to lend a hand. Have a good one and take care.

Has not been resolved but finding time to call QB's again is my issue.

I may be tempting fate but this hasn't happened here in a good while.

I don't think we did anything beyond enabling/disabling Shipping (as mentioned above).

Always using via fully updated Chrome browser (on PC) - never QBO app - with cookies cleared on exit (so a fresh login each time).
