Quickbooks has removed the ability to run payroll through the Desktop version. We are converting to Quickbooks online.
We've successfully imported our data from Desktop to Online. However when trying to enable Payroll we are need to enter our business address to enable. Something that "should" be straight forward.
Unfortunately not! In the field Postcode/Town you are prompted to enter the first three letters of your city. After entering LON, you are presented with London, Greater London, E1 XXX (the first alphabetical postcode). I need London, Greater London, EC1 XXX. The list has to keep populating after saying 15 postcodes have been displayed. London have 1,000's of postcodes. Surely you are not expecting to scroll through every postcode to find yours?
Entering EC1 provides no results!
I would be amazed that this has not presented a problem before. Any suggestions, perhaps I am entering incorrectly?
Just to confirm this issue is within "Payroll Settings" not the ultimate business settings.
Thank you

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
I figured the issue. I was entering the city name, when doing so you are presented with London followed by the postcode. When entering EC1 it reported no results, even thou the pop up says to enter a minimum of three characters. After entering the full postcode I was successful. Intuit might want to have a note that says to enter the postcode in full.
All sorted, thanks again for pointing us to the Post Office.
Hello there, DXUK,
You'll want to use this postcode finder to search for your address, https://www.postoffice.co.uk/postcode-finder. There are times when the system only acknowledge some address details that matches with your postcode.
Check out these articles for payroll reference:

Hi DXUK,
Thanks for getting back and sharing that solution with us, we're pleased that's sorted for you now and we'll certainly take note and pass this on with our development team to look into!
I'm having the same problem when knowing the full correct postcode. Inputting that produces No matches. I had to scroll through postcodes for an hour!
Thanks for joining us here in the Community, @Nick Hixson.
I'd like to inform you that we currently have an ongoing issue, wherein there are no matches found upon entering the full postcode on the payroll setup. Our engineers are already aware of this behavior and are now working to get this resolve in a timely manner.
For now, to get your work done, it's recommended to scroll down so you'll be able to select the appropriate postcode. Your patience and understanding in this situation are much appreciated.
To stay in the loop with the current status of this matter, I suggest contacting our Customer Care Team. They'll be able to add you to the list of the affected users and notify you once any updates are made available.
For your reference, I'm also adding here some links that you can check out about running payroll in QBO depending on the subscription that you're using:

I have also experienced this problem and only found the solution by searching this Community page - it's a shame that QB has not added a hint box to advise entering a full post code.
Unfortunately this bug is still very much live and there is absolutely no fast way of entering a UK postcode into the system and it finding it.
You can type in 3 characters, the full postcode, the first part of the postcode, with spaces and without and it just won't recognise it.
The only thing which it seems to recognise at the moment is maybe the city, such as 'London' or 'Lon', but there are literally thousands of postcodes in London and the list which is generated is in no particular order.
Tried incognito, in different browsers, and for what it was worth, on mobile. No success.
We want this fixed as much as you do, Tommy291.
It's a good thing you performed the basic steps to isolate the issue. I suggest reaching out to our customer care support so an agent can take a better look at your concern. Here's how:
