London, UK - 7 February 2019
Today, Intuit, the makers of QuickBooks, the world’s number one online accounting software, announced the appointment of Chris Evans as VP and UK Country Manager. Evans, part of the Intuit UK team for eight years, steps up from UK Sales Director and succeeds Dominic Allon who moves to SVP International at Intuit.
QuickBooks backs the UK’s small businesses, self-employed and accounting professionals by enabling them to embrace digital to manage their finances, save time and make money. By doing this, fewer small businesses fail and accounting professionals can become more profitable. This strategy has seen QuickBooks Online subscriber growth of 84% YoY in the UK*. Evans, a key part of this growth, is committed to continuing to deliver for customers, building the leading Fintech brand for small businesses in the UK.
Commenting on his appointment, Chris said: “I’m privileged to become UK Country Manager and lead a talented team in the third best workplace in the UK**. Most of all I’m passionate about stopping small business failure. They are the backbone of the British economy but 50% fail in the first five years. By adopting digital behaviours, small businesses can thrive and set their sights on success. My mission at QuickBooks is to work hand in hand with the accounting industry to enable small businesses to embrace digital, solve cash flow and unlock growth.”
An immediate focus for Evans will be to spearhead QuickBooks’ approach to financial legislation: Making Tax Digital for VAT (MTD) and Open Banking.
HMRC’s MTD is the biggest change to tax compliance in a generation and is set to affect over 1.2 million UK businesses by April 2019. Under Evans’ leadership, QuickBooks aims to make MTD easy for small businesses and accounting professionals by building best in class software while using the moment as a gateway to the myriad benefits of digital finances.
Open Banking takes effect in 2019. The opening of bank APIs enables QuickBooks to give customers unprecedented levels of automation in their finances. It also opens up significant innovation and partnership opportunities that will revolutionise how technology shoulders the burden of financial management. Evans will steer QuickBooks to unlock the automation opportunities of Open Banking for small businesses and accounting professionals.
Evans continued “MTD and Open Banking open up digital efficiencies that enable small businesses to spend more time making their business succeed - scaling-up and increasing their bottom line. Digitisation and automation of traditional bookkeeping tasks also allows accounting professionals to offer value add consultancy that carries greater margin. This is what excites me. MTD and Open Banking are key moments on our journey to a digital future that will power the prosperity of small businesses and accounting professionals.”
Evans will operate out of London, heading up the workforce in Intuit’s new office space. Dominic Allon, Senior Vice President and General Manager, International at Intuit said: “QuickBooks is the world's number one online accounting solution with over 3.6 million subscribers and the UK plays a vital role in our international mission. I am delighted to confirm Chris as the leader of our successful UK business.
