London, UK - 20 September 2018
Today, Intuit, the maker of QuickBooks, the world’s No. 1 online accounting software, announced that it will offer a bridging solution in QuickBooks Online as part of its ongoing commitment to making digital tax filing easy and accessible for all.
With HMRC’s mass communication programme launch, and newly published guide to help businesses prepare for Making Tax Digital for VAT, or as it is commonly known, Making Tax Digital for Business (MTDfB), the legislation will be front of mind for many businesses across the UK. QuickBooks is committed to helping those affected manage this transition successfully and with confidence.
QuickBooks Online is MTDfB-ready, and the company has successfully submitted MTD for VAT filings to HMRC as part of its beta programme.
Bridging solution helps address widest range of business cases
QuickBooks’ suite of HMRC-recognised, MTDfB-ready software will be enhanced with the addition of a bridging solution, which will be accessible to those with an active QuickBooks Online subscription. This functionality will help the full spectrum of business types - from the smallest VAT registered businesses to those with complex VAT arrangements - to comply with MTDfB’s filing requirements, by digitally linking a spreadsheet into QuickBooks through to HMRC. For small business customers using spreadsheets, the process remains familiar, while adhering to HMRC’s compliance rules. Moreover, it enables those businesses to easily migrate to end-to-end financial management in QuickBooks should they choose to move their accounts online, and experience the wide-ranging benefits of cloud accounting.
“QuickBooks is here to support all customers through this legislation – from VAT filing all the way through to end-to-end financial management,” said Shaun Shirazian, Head of UK Product Management, Intuit QuickBooks. “We’re proud to offer our customers HMRC-recognised, MTDfB-ready software, and have already successfully delivered VAT return filings to HMRC. Our bridging software will help us support the widest range of customers and deliver on our mission to make digital tax filing a smooth and easy process for all.”
