While we can use a report to check the total deductions for employee advances, the remaining balance isn't directly available. Let me guide you in submitting a request to our developers as I share a workaround.
QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online are distinct products, each with its own features. That's why we're unable to mimic your way of checking an employee's actual balance in the Desktop, as they use different methods to perform tasks.
Given the unavailability, you can run the Payroll Deductions/Contributions report to select the Cash Advance Payment and drill down on the Employee deductions. Please note that it records the total, so you'll need to calculate the residual amount manually.
Alternatively, consider suggesting this feature to our product developers. You're also welcome to propose any configuration choices to help us enhance our product and assist you in getting the most out of QuickBooks. Follow the steps below:
- Go to the Gear icon at the top.
- Under the Profile column, select Feedback.
- Share your idea, then click Next.
