Where do I upload my January 1st odometer reading in QuickBooks self-employed app

Hi there,

Tracking your mileage is an important business practice and it's important that you know how to accurately record it in your small-business accounting software. Mileage tracking in QuickBooks Self-Employed is a simple process, and I want to share with you how you can do it.

It sounds like you're looking to manually track a trip that you took on January 1st. Depending on what device you're using, you'll find the steps to do that in our article on how to Manually track mileage in QuickBooks Self-Employed. I'll go over how to do this from an internet browser.

  1. Choose the Miles menu.
  2. Hit the Add trip option.
  3. Using the Add miles field, enter the distance of your trip.
  4. Select the appropriate date.
  5. Use the Edit pencil to adjust the beginning and ending addresses if you desire.
  6. Enter a note to identify the Trip purpose.
  7. Hit Save to enter the details of the trip into the system.

QuickBooks Self-Employed is also equipped with an automatic mileage tracking feature. When set up, the app will automatically track your mileage. You just open the app on your mobile device and QuickBooks does the rest for you. This will save you the time that it takes to enter your trips manually so you can get back to business sooner. In case you're interested in taking advantage of these features, here's how you can set up and start using automatic mileage tracking:

Let me know if there's anything else I can assist with. Have a great day!
