How can I remove ending balance?

I saw online questions answered about how to reset the ending balance but none to remove it completely. I use it in my family business to keep track of who is paid and I don't reconcile anything. I understand if I were to reconcile I could reset the balance but I am sure it would just keep building up again.

Is there a way to just remove it from view completely on quickbooks desktop pro 2019 or is it just something I will have to deal with looking at? It says I'm -1,000,000 at the moment when I truly am not so it is just frustrating to see.

Thanks for reaching out in the QuickBooks Community. Let me explain where the ending balance comes from.

The balance showing is the accumulation of transactions entered into your account. If there's a discrepancy between what your bank balance is and what you see in your QuickBooks. That's where reconciliation comes in. It compares the transactions in the bank to what's in your QuickBooks account. Here's a link that goes into detail on reconciliation: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks. The opening balance can be changed, which will also affect the ending balance. An ending balance in reconciliation can be changed, but the account balance only changes with the entries posted into the account.
