When I reconcile my account for last year, I'm having trouble making them all balance. Can I save one month and move on to the next even if it's not done?

When I reconcile my account for last year, I'm having trouble making them all balance. Can I save one month and move on to the next even if it's not done?

Hi there,

When you reconcile an account, you compare the beginning balance and transactions listed in your QuickBooks Online company file with your monthly bank or credit card statements to make sure they match. This is such an important step in making sure your bookkeeping is accurate and updated monthly. I'll help you figure out why your accounts aren't balancing.

The reconciliation process is chronological, so you'll have to complete it on a month-to-month basis. You shouldn't move forward to the next month's reconciliation if you haven't completed the month prior.

I recommend reviewing this article for more information on the reconciliation process in QuickBooks Online: Reconcile accounts. Within this article, there's also additional articles that discuss what to do if your beginning balance is incorrect, and also how to make sure your QBO account matches your bank statement.

Here's another helpful article that should get you back on the right track: Fix issues when you're reconciling accounts in QuickBooks Online. In this article, you can learn about what causes ending balance issues, as well as other problems you may face during the reconciliation process.

I hope this helps you get back on track. If you have any other questions, I'd recommend reaching out to our tech support team. I'm confident an agent will be able to sort this out for you in no time.

Cheers!
