Bank Feeds and Reconciliation

I can successfully import my bank feed into QuickBooks 2018 Canadian.  Once imported, the transactions are compared with entries in QB and if they match, the reconciliation column is marked with a lightning bolt.

Is it possible to convert (or have QB convert) the lightning  bolt to a checkmark which displays when reconciling the account.  This would save most of the work in reconciling and if all the transaction are matched, the reconciliation should be zero.   It shocked me when I called QB support and they said this is not possible.

Comments??  Suggestions??  Can you think of any reason why the program should not do this.

Bank Feeds and Reconciliation

Hello Mel_Orecklin,

I can absolutely see how this would save some time and needing to reconcile your accounts. I'll go over how this feature works and why this process doesn't, in fact, reconcile the account for you.

When you're adding or matching from the bank feed, all you're telling QuickBooks is that this transaction should be in your books. In a way, this can feel like reconciling, especially when you're matching a transaction. However the program still needs you to go through the process of reconciling as well.

This is because there may be cases where not everything is added or matched through the bank feed. By going in and reconciling yourself instead of the program doing it, you can also be 100% sure that no errors have been made and all your dates, balances, and transactions line up.

I welcome you to submit feedback about this feature by going to the Help menu in product and selecting Send Feedback Online. It's a great way to share your ideas with us about what we can do to enhance the program.

For your reference as well, here are a few articles about the two features in question.

I'm here if you have further questions!
